sorry I haven't been around for a while - just sitting here getting more & more depressed as NOTHING is happening :(
I suspect that my solicitor isn't pulling her finger out though she has said today that she finally has the last piece of info she needs & that she will email me late this afternoon with an update. PLEASE keep your fingers crossed that I can exchange this week & complete next week (mortgage co say 1 week to draw down the cash) - if it doesn't happen this week, I don't know what I will do - life gets far more complicated then due to work commitments, holidays, LL's goodwill on being flexible with my notice period & a whole bunch of other things ...

Ahhh LE3, its a shame to hear you feeling so down and out, especially since you were so excited when you started this thread. Its so frustrating being dependant on other parties to get things moving and having to wait around, especially if you impatient like me and just want things done like yesterday. Keep your chin up, you're nearly there! I got my fingers crossed for you, and everyone else!

I just wanted to share my excitement that I exchanged today with a completion date of next Monday! Boy its been a hard slog getting here, as I am selling mine and mum's house and we are moving into one together! To cut a long story short, Mum's first buyer couldn't get a mortgage, so we accepted a new offer 6 weeks ago! Our chain is very complicated, both Mum & I have FTB living in rented, we are buying one bungalow between us, owners of bungalow are splitting so buying 2 properties, one being vacant and the other owned by a disabled couple! Can you imagine what our poor solicitors have been through trying to get a completion date to suit all

I think I have aged 10 years over the past few months (first put our houses on the market in Sept 09!) but this time next week I will be sitting in my new bungalow, looking forward to a happy future! Good luck to everyone else, hope you all get some good news soon!

    ...

I can sympathise greatly - we're waiting for something to happen too. Called our solicitor again today - they've still not received replies to the initial enquiries, even though the vendors say their solicitors say they've sent everything. Getting bored with not being able to get a straight answer as to what's happening now.

Hopefully our solicitor will be sending an itemised list of what they're waiting for, then I can chase with the vendor and EA again. It just sounds like the vendor's solictors aren't very good though - from what ours says it's a call centre based operation and they can never speak to the same person twice to find out what's going on.

    Rant over...

I'm so pleased that so many people who started this thread with me are now through the process & others are almost there.
I am reluctant to get too excited, but I *may* have some positive news - I have spoken to the solicitor today who says if the other side are happy with it, there is no reason why we can't complete by next Friday (2nd July) :j
Not sure when exchange will take place, def not before this Friday, but as it's a straight forward one with no chain, there is no reaosn why we can't exchange & complete within days (just depends how long mortgage draw down takes, but that's been requested!)

We are going to sign the contracts tomorrow, but still haven't got an exchange or compeltion date. I just want to know the date we can move in.

LE3 and Tony_R - fingers crossed for an exchange date for you!

I'm not sure if my solicitors are hopeless or just getting on with what they need to do without ever proactively contacting me and rarely returning my calls....:wall:

Anyway, they said today the final bit of info I was waiting for is "in the post" (building regs certificate), so I'm signing the paperwork and making the bank transfer of the deposit to my solicitor. I told the EA and the solicitor I am very keen to exchange by the end of the month (notice due on rental house on 30th), with completion shortly after. The EA said the vendor neither agreed nor disagreed with this plan, but was talking to their solicitor. My solicitor said we can talk dates when they have the signed papers and money, so dropping them in tomorrow.

Hoping to exchange in next few days!

I've got next to no news at all - but wanted a little whinge - posted the cheque to Mortgage Co over a week ago, but they havent got it... So am going to have to leave work early, cos all the local branches shut at half 4 - and pay it again! And then get the branch to fax the proof to the mortgage dept... And theres me thinking everything is progressing nicely!
So valuation has been authorised and should take place in the next week... Finally!
