Mazfitz,
An example call credit don't take into account credit searches, Experian do, so straight away depending on your credit searches there will be different.
Ignore the scores and just ensure that all the info on there is correct and ensure you pay on time.

This creates a financial association at the CRAs, which will be in place for ever unless you manage to persuade the chumps at the CRAs to remove it. It's my understanding that utility companies are not allowed to create such associations, but because the CRAs have no QA on incoming data this sort of thing happens all the time. The upshot is the CRAs then publish lies about you and the "associated" person. You should take this up with the ICO; ask them how they can justify a situation that permits the CRAs to publish lies.
You might also consider writing to the water company stating that since you've not given them authorisation to do so, you henceforth ban them from reporting details about you to the CRAs, and from smacking you with credit checks.
The golden rule is. NEVER use your real name on any utility accounts for this very reason.
Call them immediately and tell them you are moving and the bill needs to be sent to "The Occupier". Alernatively, call them and say you have moved in 3 months ago and give "a name".
This diverts any billing mistakes away from your credit file and keeps toxic creditors without access. By toxic or "sub-prime" creditors I mean those who are more risky to have reporting information about you that are more prone to mistakes due to random billing values, estimatd accounts. Prime creditors are those with whom you have a properly regulated credit agreement with such as a Credit Card, Mortgage.
Sub Prime Creditor, High Risk Creditor, Toxic Creditor = Utility companies, council tax, mobile phones, sattelite TV, landline. Service type agreements that are unregulated by the CCA. High or medium risk of data misreporting. Bills can be random, incorrect and produced using estimation. Keep these away from your credit file by using a false name or simply The Occupier.
Prime Creditor = Quality credit data that has minimal risk of misreporting and hassle getting corrections made. Such creditors may have a regulated credit agreement in place under the Consumer Credit Act. Examples of these are: Personal Loan, Credit Card, Current Accounts, Mortgages, Store Cards.
I had this issue with British Gas when they thought it would be clever to start reporting. It generated a few threads on here years ago. I dumped them, gave them the reason for dumping them and went elsewhere with a fake name.
REMEMBER consider carefully who has accress to your credit file and if they can report to it. Weigh up the risk the creditor poses and if you have doubt provide a false name or simply The Occupier.0 -

scroll all the way down and the tables shows 'who uses who' for current accounts, credit cards and also another table for mortgages.
