Hubby has just come home with a wooden double garden seat with attached table in between. Apparently, the owner was putting it out for the council to take away as they couldn't be bothered to rub it down and paint it.
I now have a lovely shabby chic hardwood garden set (that originally cost over £100) for nothing.
:T that's fantastic, what people throw away is unbelievable. Well done you! (and hubby)Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0 -
60 bricks from freegle. And they have hardly any mortar to clean off!
*And* they almost match the 40 bricks I got from a skip last week, so I now have enough bricks to edge the border I wanted to-for free.import this0 -
I have split and planted the onions which had sprouted in the cupboard. 3 onions gave me a dozen plants.
Swapped some cauli plants for cabbage ones with a friend.Loving the sunny days!0 -

Stopped in at Poundstretcher today on my way to the garden centre. Got 4 decent quality seed trays for £1.49 (reduced from £1.79), 2 small trugs for £1.99 each and a couple of wall planters for £1.29 each. Was really pleased, I was going to buy seed trays at the garden centre - 4 for £3.00! Mummy to an amazing little girl0

Have you seen the ones in poundland garnetlady. You get 5 seed trays for £1. They are pretty thin black plastic, but have worked a treat for me.

We got £14 worth of bedding plants for a fiver from B&Q dead plant corner, planted them up and gave them a good watering. All doing well and starting to flower.
Our courgette and squash seeds are starting to pop up, onions are doing well and our newly installed water butt is now half full. With our lovely home made compost, we are close to veggy gardening for free. (well the cost of seeds)Beer meter E[.\.......]F0 -
I save the 500ml yoghurt pots and also collect the plastic trays that the supermarkets display them in. 6 pots in the tray fits beautifully on the kitchen windowsill.
I keep the clear pot lids. The seeds are sown in damp compost which is gently pressed down to make contact, I don't use extra water but I put the clear lids on to keep the moisture in. Once seeds have germinated, the lids can come off.
Smaller yoghurts and creams come in trays of 12 which are also useful.
The 'living herbs' come in square pots and their trays are useful if you use square pots.
Ask at your supermarket, they are only too pleased not to have to get rid of them.0 -
The public strip of grass at the side of my house was been cut by the council, when it was finished i ran out with a plastic bag & collected some grass cuttings for earthing/mulching my poatotoes (my friends £ saving tip) because i mentioned i was low on compost &i don't have any grass.!I just hope none of the neighbours saw me they will think i'm mad!:rotfl::j0
