My aunty moved into a new house at the start of the year and the previous owners left it full of stuff. She's hired loads of skips and I dread to think what has been thrown away (she was trying to throw away 3 bikes in GC!).

DH noticed that there was a load of bricks lying which were earmarked for disposal. We''ve rescued them and there's about 250 monoblocks, edging and loads of bricks. Also found a container which will hopefully become a water butt and a terracotta pot! :T Timing is great because we're hoping to start tackling the garden on Sat.

I got a load of bubble wrap squares and a large piece of polythene from the lady who does the flowers at work. I have sellotaped it all together to make a warm cover for my tiny plastic greenhouse. I also picked a lot of mint today and made 8 jars of mint sauce. My oh and dd eat it on everything.

I potted on two clematis into my morrisons black buckets and then i coverd them with my homemade plastic bottle cloches. Elsewhere in the mini plastic greenhouses i wrapped everything with free bubble wrap that i have acquired.

Well done on getting one from freecycle:T I tried for ages but gave in in the end and bought a second hand one. It took us about 2 hours yesterday to dismantle it (in the rain:mad:) We were so tired and wet when we came home that we just left it in the car but we are going to tackle it this morning:D

Well I asked for a shed but this person contacted me with the greenhouse which is better really - well chuffed:j

Not sure if this counts as frugal gardening....

but I've used the round container from our poppadoms as a seed tray..... hoping my herbs get off to a good start in there!

Oh and rescued an old detergent spritz bottle from the bin while DH wasnt looking and am now using that as a water spritz for the house plants :)

recovered my coldframe today with plastic sheeting i got from work, used my mums staple gun, only paid for the staples.

Had rhubarb crumble today with the rhubarb out of my garden, it tasted fantastic, and can't believe how much compost i've got out of my heaps, i've topped nearly every bed up ready for the peas and beans.

When I was a child, a neighbour split off a clump of perennial geranium for us.

Every time anyone in our family moves, they get a piece. Goodness knows how many gardens it has supplied over the years.

My clump had got a bit big, so I've split it into 10 pieces and planted them along the bottom of a hedge boundary that was pretty much nothing but weeds. With a bit of luck they'll soon spread and tidy everything up...for free :)
