I got 2 big plastic toy boxes out of the garage , punctured holes in the bottom and filled with lovely compost from my compost bin. They will be perfect for planting some veg in if the seeds ever grow in this cold weather!JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200

I had been looking at getting blueberry bushes and more raspberry canes and my heart had been drawn to those I had seen in some of the main gardening catalogues and in my little mind I had spent £60. Then the rational part of my brain clicked in and I went to a local chain store and got 3 blueberries, 4 raspberries and a blackberry for £10 so I also picked up some strawberries for a bargain of £2.99 for 6. Then today my free (tesco deals) strawberries arrived.
So although I did spend money I did it sensibly and saved myself £50 in the process!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I, well my son, half emptied the compost bin into our new patch. The stones from the earth formed a nice layer of drainage at the bottom and some wood from next door's old fence that blew over last year was used for the posts. Only expense was concrete mix thus far and sore muscles. Hopefully tackling the remaining few feet of it later today if the rain stays off.0

I spent a happy day yesterday planting shallots into old plastic pots that we'd bought small bushes in last year. It was a lovely afternoon.0

Yesterday made a few holes in an ice cream carton for seedlings to go in and today have been riddling the remains of the old compost heap and bagging it up ready to use for a raised bed or two which I'll be making from my builder's old scaffolding planks. No longer half of Optimisticpair

Took delivery of Dalek compost bin about 6ish yesterday. Then felt the need to go and liberate a few bits and pieces from my recycling bin that I'd already put out for emptying today. Then raided the brown gardening waste bin for some dead flowers and grass clippings just to get things going. The neighbour's must think I've totally lost it.
