Here you go, to save you searching further:

    Mushy pea curry
    3 cans of mushy peas
    1 can of baked beans
Onions and mushrooms (as many as you like)
    1 tablespoon of sweetener
    Curry powder to taste
    Fry light

Brown the onions and mushrooms in Frylight then add all the rest of the ingredients. Cook gently for 20-30 mins.
If you find the mixture too thick add a drop of water.
Serve with boiled rice or as a filling for baked potatoes.

now i like mushy peas but this sounds vile - is it nice ?? and thank you for finding it tho :) xxx

Right, i worked this out very crudely inbetween doing a million things

    Flour is 4½ syns per 28gms - 339.75 grams = 54.6
Sugar is 1 syn per level teaspoon 2 syns (optional)
Dried yeast is ½ syn per level teaspoon (2½ per 28gms) 1.5 syns
    ½ pint milk is 7½ for semi / 4½ for skimmed / 9¼ for whole 3.75

61.85 (62 to round up) syns for two small loaves of around 400g each. Each small loaf split into 6 portions = 32 syns per loaf, or 5.33 - per sixth of a loaf. The loaf size 400g /6 = 66.66g so not far off a HEB !

this is why i don't understand how it can't be subbed for a HEB ?

Also wondered is it possible to make your own frylight? My bottle says it is 57% (from memory) oil , and remaining is water and preservative /other. If you diluted it to that ration with water, would that be the same job?

    Sorry :o

It has nothing to do with the syns - HEBs have to have a certain amount of fibre and you would have trouble finding out how much fibre is in your hm bread.

I have heard of people making their own spray oil - again if you want to follow the plan 100% I'm not sure it would work properly. However, I'm sure you don't use that much of it so give it a go and see what happens to your weight losses.

Hope that helps a bit :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Morning all

Yet another overcast n drizzly day here ...

Kayda -I work those bars out to be 3.5 syns

My EE meal plan for today is:-
    • 250ml semi skimmed (A)
    • 2 weetabix (B)
    • 125ml semi skimmed (3)
    • 1 Apple
    • sliced ham
    • cottage cheese
    • Huge salad
    • orange
    • SW sweet n sour pork (1.5)
    • vegetable noodles
    • fruit
    • creamy yogurt (8)
The sweet n sour is a new recipe -so I will let you know if its a good one -and post the recipe if needed ;)
Today I have managed to pencil in 12.5 syns ..so Im getting there (Im determined to try and use as many as I can) -I think the answer to using my syns up easier has to be the scrummy creamy yogurts :p
We will be popping out this evening as we need more sparkling water -Im getting through between 3-4.5lts a day  -so whilst we are out I will be doing another fruit n veg top up ..
    Have a great day everyone:D

It's the ASDA wholemeal pitta but someone commented that they believed it no longer was - but I've checked before posting this and it is still listed at the bottom of the HEBs on the website (diary page) - goody!:j

Ooh thanks. I love pitta. In particular I love pitta pizza so I'm thinking HEB with chopped tinned tomatoes and HEA cheese would be lovely with a nice big salad.

WI tonight for me. I had a day off Saturday while I was on a Hen weekend, and I've had a few lockets for my cold so I'm not overly hopeful. I need 0.5lb to get my stone, so I would be happy if I could get that. Today's menu (green)....

B-LF Yogurt, Banana, Options (2 syns), Fibre Plus Bar (HEB1)

L-Cottage Cheese and Baked Bean Burgers, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Apple

D-Pasta with Pesto mixed with Quark (2.5 syns), 28g Cheddar (HEA1), Blueberries

S- Skinny Latte (HEA2), Satsuma, Mint Club (5.5 syns)

    =10 syns
:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator :p

Im sure you enjoyed the scone :D

The roll wouldn't have been ok as a HEB - a HEB is usually around 6 syns - and is assessed as such for its filling power . a HEB is from a list of pre approved things - examples being 57g of any wholemeal bread (excluding pitta as they are not as filling). Another eg would be 1 hovis golden wholemeal roll, or 2 slices white nimble bread . (you will get this list in your book at class :) )

Granary bread doesn't seem to feature at all for Hebs in my book. So if you hadn't had the scone , but still had the granary bread - that's entirely fine as you could syn the granary roll :)

MrsMcA - you're a legend, thank you! :jFunny how we both fell into the low fat pre made chicken trap we don't normally! :rotfl:Feel very full today so maybe i will give EE a go and try to avoid bread so often

    Greenpixey - congrats! :T

GISI - i would assume that would be ok, but wait until someone who knows answers :) Pittas mustn't have good filling power (or be fibre rich)

My Consultant said that the reason we're not allowed granary bread as a "b" choice is because the grains in it are oily.:(

I made this on monday, it was lovely and it didnt taste of mushy peas. The amount of curry powder you put in makes it taste like a curry sauce. I would recommend that you add some water to it unless you like it really thick. I did smooth the sauce with a stick blender otherwise my kids would have spotted the peas

I wonder if anyone can advise about tinned fruit?

I am trying to have plenty of fresh fruit, but thought I'd get some tins in store for when I run out.

I see it counts as syns whether it is in syrup or juice.

However, I only like it dry and always throw away ALL the juice.

Are we allowed to subtract some syns for that?

Or is it just too much of a faff?

Many thanks for any words of wisdom! :T
