Ryanair Volcanic Dust Rip Off

I'm sick of Ryanair they just rip you off all the time.

Was due to fly to Murcia from Birmingham today but flights cancelled do to Volcanic dust.

Ryanair said you can change your flight online FREE to the next available flight and I have been trying all day but the website just says an error has occurred please try again. So tried ringing on their 0871 10pence a minute rip off and it says we are very busy today but you can change flights on our website (which doesn't work) and the estimated waiting time for an operator to speak to you is 7 mins, 45 mins later still no answer so tried to get a refund on the website but that's not working either.

Just looked at the prices for baggage and now for July/August it's £20 per bag.

I really think it's about time we all stopped using this rip off company.

[STRIKE]I would get down the airport and get them to do it there. Out of interest will they let you check in to the cancelled flight online?

Is it scheduled to have departed already?[/STRIKE]

They must rebook you without charging you anything else at all, however they do it, and must provide you with accommodation and meals until they can get you on a flight. There is nothing legal they can do to get out of this, even if you didn't check in.
  • Under the circumstances, Ryanair are no different from every other airline. They will all be offering a free rebooking (subject to availability) or refund. It'll be tough to find an available flight because we're looking at least one, if not two or more days' worth of passengers looking to rebook :(
  • well, they MUST take care of you till they can fulfil their contract to get you from A to B!

Call them, they are definitely changing flights for free. I know the queues are long, but there is little they can do about that. Be patient, be polite, and you will get the result you want.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Hi everyone - can I get a bit of advice about rights under the EU aviation regs.

I booked two flights for tomorrow. London to Madrid at 8.30am (cancelled) and a connecting flight from MAdrid to Tangiers (not cancelled).

I booked the same return route for Monday - but the return flight from Madrid to London is with Easyjet. Obviously the retunr two flights are not cancelled yet.

My question is - does Ryanair only have to refund me for the London-Madrid leg?

There is no point in doing an exchange due to the fact that I return after the weekend and ALL saturday flights are now fully booked.

So if I cancel the flights out, I cant use the flights in. I would have thought that I was entitled to a refund on all tickets however:

    1. Ryanair website only allows for autmatic refund on the outbound London-MAdrid leg that has already been cancelled; and

    2. Easyjet will argue that my booking through them (Madrid-London) is unafiliated with the other travel plans that I had made and therefore no duty to pay.

    I dont have travel insurance.

Any a straight forward advice on this one?

If I cant cancel the tickets (only the London-Madrid one) then I will have to buy an expensive flight out to avoid losing the money spent on the flight in.

Any answers are appreciated - I need to make a decision tonight!
