i know twirlypinky it's the height of rudeness!

we sent rsvp cards (with addressed envelopes), gave an email address to reply to and also have an rsvp section on our wedding path site and we still had to chase people
  • I'm relying on people to RSVP via our wedding website - something I may later regret by the sound of it!!! Only invited day guests so far though, and expect them all to come (as we've spoken to all individually & told them the date in advance)

I'm a bridezilla and I don't want any help from anyone!!! (Except you guys!) Feeling pressure from family and friends. Fed up of saying - yes that is a lovely idea and probably would look better than what I'm planning - but I'm not spending that much money on it, so stop showing it to me!!! I'm getting worried that everyone will look at the decorations and think I haven't done enough - but I'm determined not to go overboard!!

  • I thought I was fairly chilled about my wedding planning, but my chief bridesmaid is driving me insane at the moment!

Myself and OH moved house in January, about 20 minutes drive from where we used to stay, maybe about 30 mins from CB. She's not been to see us once - keeps making excuses about not being able to get through (she doesn't drive, but her hubby does) etc.

Caught up with her briefly last Friday, and asked if she wanted to come through this Friday, as there's a wedding fair on where we now live. She said that would be good, be nice to see the new house, we could go for dinner etc first.

Texted her this morning to ask if she was still coming, and she texted back saying she didn't know, it depends if she can get there and back. Tried to call her at lunch, no answer, and then text her to say I (again) I could pick her up once I'd finished work, then take her to the train station after - no reply!

For goodness sake, we've only moved twenty minutes away, not to the other side of the world. We make the commute 5 days of the week, why can't she make the effort?

OK, rant over...going back to being chilled out now...
  • we numbered our RSVPS because most of our families are quite dim :) and i just know they wouldnt think to say who it was from,
i am now however worried about getting replys without stamps on... I cant believe so many of you have had this problem!! who does that??

idiots! that's who... it's rather scary that people think they don't need a stamp to post it back!! OH had the brilliant idea of writing just under the flap of the rsvp envelope "please remember a stamp" ... was me that had to write it mind you on a 90 odd envelopes but it was his brilliant idea! :rotfl:

Hi, newbie to this thread and this forum, but really enjoying reading the posts and it's one of the few things keeping my feet on the ground!

My confession is that I am starting to see the guest list as a popularity contest between me and OH. It's fairly obvious that he is going to 'win' as he has a much larger family and circle of friends. I can count my family on one hand and have very few friends who live locally and can make it to the wedding. He also has far more people going on his stag do than I have on my hen, which I'm also not happy about!

I know it's a really silly thing and I'm not usually competitive, but it does niggle me!

I'm a bridezilla and my confession is

AAAGGGHHH! My H2B said the other day

"we'd better sit down and sort out the guest list again"

"what do you mean? We sat down and did it in December together"

"yeah but properly this time, there's some others I'd like to invite to the day, we'll have to add some on"

Okay, that probably doesn't sound so bad, does it? BUT !!!!!!?

The whole point of us sitting down and doing it in December was so we could pay the venue off in full (which we did), therefore avoiding the VAT increase. If we add ANYONE, the venue is going to have to apply the VAT increase retrospectively to the whole package costing us over £100 more before even paying for the extra people.
Why didn't he just do it properly in the first place?
What part of "we need to sit down and get the final figures together to pay off the venue in full" did he not get?

It would only be the additional guests where VAT would be charged at 20% VAT, I can send you the link to HMRC website if the venue are telling you something else

:rotfl:I got this statement last week from OH "you've got more friends on that guest list that I have family!" my response was "erm darling, all of my family live overseas apart from mom, dad and sister, 20 of the friends (10 if they are in couples) I've invited whom are soley my friends live overseas and I can almost put a bet on no one from those 2 groups apart from my grandparents will make any effort to fly over. the rest of the 70 guests are your family, your friends (whom are now mutual friends) and your old work friends! So we'll probably be short on guests anyway because my guests won't make the effort/be able to afford to travel here for a short space of time "

Just a thought about RSVPs being returned without stamps.... perhaps it might be an idea to put stamps on the envelopes. :) The last invitation to a wedding that we received contained an SAE with it which I thought was a nice touch.....(not that it would bother me buying a stamp) but it might promp people to send the RSVPs back instead of having to chase them up...then again maybe it wouldnt. Some people are hard work!
