Oooh I hate those snooty make-up counter girls. I once went into a department store after being caught in a rain shower. I was a bit drowned rat and wasn't feeling well anyway. It was quiet and they just stared at me and giggled in a nasty way.
So what if I'm not orange!! You still work in a shop!!
(nothing against people who work in shops - but you don't get people on the meat counter at Asda being snooty)Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Makes you feel like the scene in Pretty Woman with her in the posh frocks shop!0

I'm getting so fed up with being diplomatic. Right at the beginning of the planning process mum got carried away with the idea of doing the buffet at the reception herself, which I dodn't want cos I want her to be around on the day, relaxing, socialising, not trying to arrange lettace leaves, so I tried to ignore the idea but she wouldn't let up. In the end I said that I didn't want her to have to cater and we'd get a company to do it. Then there was a bit of a gap cos we live 400miles apart and I was working lots over winter, until I find out from Gran that mum had wrung her up really upset and she felt like we were being so negative about anything she thought and not letting her get involved, which was not my intention at all! So I decide to make the most of her artistic and dessert making skills by getting her to make the cupcakes and make a nice simple decorated mailbox along the lines of the theme (which is leafy swirly)... She rings me today to say she's spent £20 on an ornamental wishing well, which my gran thought was a good idea, and she and my aunt think that lots of Quality Street will be suitable for decoration tables at the reception. WHY does no-one think it would be nice to ring ME and ask what I would like since it's MY BLOOMING WEDDING??Got a job at Inchmahome Priory, woooooooooo!!

And the number of people who've assumed I'm mother of the bride...especially when I'm out with my gorgeous 16yr old DSD who is my BM. Even us old birds can still like the idea of dressing up and feeling like a princess on our big day, and not just an old queen!!!
LOL!! I got that when I was posting my invites. I explained to the postmistress (?) that I wanted each one weighing because they were all handmade and therefore slightly different weights and thicknesses, and I didn't want them going astray through having the 'wrong' postage on. And when I said they were wedding invites, she said 'oh for your daughter?'.
I tried very hard not to climb over the counter and throttle the old bag, and I put her 'confusion' down to the fact that I wear an engagement and eternity ring already, so she assumed I was already married! And not that I looked like a wrinkled old thing old enough to have a daughter that is getting married!
People really ought to engage brain before opening mouth sometimes! :rotfl:If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
This was weeks ago but I am still thinking about it cause it was unnecessary!
Meet the DJ all is going well till he says "no matter what the bride and groom request I won't play loads of loud angry music with lots of swearing, I mean I have sons your age and I would just not risk offending any of the old ladies or little children with music like that" I am 20 this does not make me some stroppy teenager who wants to play heavy metal and have a big rowdy party for our wedding reception.. Plus most people are really patronizing to us and don't really seem to be taking us that seriously. Since when was it a crime to get married young? I can't win I walk down the street in a hooded top (it was snowing!) and people cross the road like I am some thug (this really happened it was hilarious!), I act perfectly respectable and I am treated like an idiot who doesn't understand the concept or seriousness of marriage.Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!
2010 wins: approx £2198
2011 wins value so far: approx £650

No I do not want to buy the most expensive wedding ring you have in your shop. And just because I'm wearing jeans it does not mean I need finance for it either!!!!!!
ohhh my god!
when OH and i went to buy my engagement ring, we were at lakeside...
we had just had a windfall of a few thousand pounds and could of had any of the rings on show but i have a jewellery phobia and im very VERY fussy about what i was going to have, i also didnt want a really expensive one that i would constantly have to worry about,
the girl showed us a few options and i found most of the pricey ones quite ugly anyway but as i kept turning them down without taking much notice of them she obviously thought it was because of the price... i explained to her that i had a very strict idea of what i would be having, but she must of mentioned the payment plan about 20 times before i said "look, money isnt an issue... im looking for the ONE ok" and it felt incredible!
i knew it was because we were in jeans and t shirts, looking knackered from a full day of shopping, me no make up hair looking like i brushed it with a piece of toast etc but it felt great to act like we were rich for the day0 -
We had a budget when getting my engagement ring, so when the girl in the shop asked how much we wanted to spend, I said, 'Up to £800', so she only really showed us rings up to that price.
She did show us one which was about £350, which was nice as a ring but not as an engagement ring. I said to my OH that it looked cheap, meaning cheap for an engagement ring that you're going to wear for the rest of your life (or until I lose or break it!). It was only when we left the shop that my OH told me that the girl serving me was actually wearing that ring
She was wearing it as a normal ring, which I would have, but still...0 -
I've recently had my first two (actually three) bridezilla moments, first one, my cousin got engaged just before Christmas and his mum (my aunt) asked me what we'd like for an engagement present - it took my all my time say 'eh don't bother we got engaged in July and the only reason you are asking is because your son just got engaged, are you feeling guilty because you never go us anything 5 months ago' - we got gifts from close family members and from work which was very much appreciated.
Second one, cousin and 'her' are having an engagement party and we're invited so we're expected to get them a present (never got one from cousin just his mum and dad, see above) - sorry got a thing about people having parties (5 months later) must not have got enough pressies.
Last one, OH was talking last night about his pals wanting to go to Newcastle for his stag do and I got upset that no-one has really mentioned a hen do for me and I'm getting paranoid no-one will come if I do have one.
Ok, feeling more rational now, loving all these confessions by the way.0 -
