Bubbles, you're in good company with the engaged-after-but-marrying-before jealousy annoyance thing!! H2B's sister got engaged recently and is very likely to get married before us. She and her H2B also have a lot more money than we do so not only am I worried that people will think that I copied her if anything is even remotely similar, but that ours will look a bit 'bargain basement' compared to theirs!! Completely ridiculous and utterly irrational, but you can't just switch these feelings off however much you know, or people tell you, that it's not right.

I'm totally the same - not the with the people getting married before us thing (although I was beside myself when I thought a friend might do that), but I'm really cross that everyone I know seems to be getting engaged too and they all have more money and everyone will probably think their weddings are better....

    Sigh.

Totally irrational, but I can't help grinding my teeth when yet another person announces their engagement.

Haha I love this thread. I can share all the mental feelings I have and know that someone out there understands.

i dont want to have a go at ANYONE but can we please just remember this thread has no ryhme or reason, its for people to vent their petty stress with out fear of being told they are bridezilla, its a bit like u can slag off ur own family but if anyone else does it you feel the need to defend them! Im feelin bridezilla cross wit green eyed monster about friends getting engaged after me then wed before i am

Yes thats what this thread is for and I usually get a giggle at other peoples bridezilla tendancy but other times posts are a wee bit too close to just generally being mean and slagging others off. Not the sort of lighthearted things we all actually want to read about...

I got engaged and then 2 months later a work colleague who I sit right close to also got engaged (this was October 2009). I'd not even set a date but knew it would be into 2011...I think I'd only just set our date when she set hers for April 2010. But I feel I've got the better deal as hers was all over and done with quite quickly. I'm enjoying the planning time and having it to look forward to - she had to do it all in 6 months, I can relax a lot more with so much more time, and I've getting loads more talking about it time than she got. Part of me is dreading the day getting too close as I enjoy having it to look forward to - does that sound mad??
So for those of you who have got friends marrying before you just remember that it's often the most recent one that people will remember :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
No I do not want to buy the most expensive wedding ring you have in your shop. And just because I'm wearing jeans it does not mean I need finance for it either!!!!!!

I get that with h2b when we go round show homes. If we're looking a bit rough and ready that day (hungover, us? surely not!) then we're generally ignored. If we're looking more our stunning and well dressed selves, suddenly it's all "would you like to look round the winchester madam?" Lol.

I went to MAC after work yesterday because so many people have recommended their make up for the wedding. My main issue is that by 3pm, my make up has all rubbed off and i look basically how i feel, shattered and old. So by the time i'm at MAC, it's 5.45, I've just marched round the shopping centre, it's really hot and i probably look minging. Doesn't excuse poor customer service though, ugly people are people too. Anyway, after being ignored for 10 minutes, (there is only so much time i can spend reading the tiny label at the bottom of a concealer stick) some girl with FAR too much make up on looked me up and down and said "Can i help you" in a superior tone, made me feel like i needed to apologise for looking gross. Anyway, i said yes, explained wedding, hot country in June etc etc, they said they could squeeze me in next wednesday and i needed to pay £25 up front now, which i'd get back in products. I walked away feeling dirty, old and poor!!
saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...

Oh Becca and Twirlypinky...I so sympathise with you on that. I don't wear a huge amount of make up generally anyway and I'm fed up of the sneering looks from young girls who make me feel I'm past helping, or older women who look down their noses cos I haven't plastered on a ton of slap like them. And the number of people who've assumed I'm mother of the bride...especially when I'm out with my gorgeous 16yr old DSD who is my BM. Even us old birds can still like the idea of dressing up and feeling like a princess on our big day, and not just an old queen!!!
