OH told me last night that he had it out with his mum last week about our wedding!!!
Since he told her that we're getting married and going away to do it (despite her saying before we should go) she had been completely uninterested to the point that if I mention it she changes the subject or talks over the top of me.
He basically out of the blue, asked her what her problem is with it and its because he 'promised' he would never get married again!! This is the woman who came running into the house with a bottle of champagne and gave us huge hugs and smiles when we told her 3 years ago we were engaged!
Quite glad that she's not coming with us as I think she would just ruin the day. I think she thinks that I'm taking her son away from her, but that's been done once before and I have no intentions of treating him the way his first wife did, but she can't see that not all women are the same.......No longer ...tobe! 74jax - exactly what Sundaysgirl said. It's rather an extreme over-reaction, perhaps she's one of those people that refuses to back down even when she realises she's in the wrong. You've already explained that it was you that requested the message be sent, and you're perfectly entitled (and need) to have a break from worrying about your dad. It's a lovely thought of your MOH to offer to meet people outside.
MrsCtobe - mothers of sons can be funny things can't they. She is quite likely concerned that he'll be hurt again. Hopefully now that he's had it out with her and she's aired her issue, it'll help her consider it and get over it.
Hugs for both - both very valid and not Bridezilla-y at all!0 -
Can someone help me see her side as right now I'm feeling, well I don't even know what i'm feeling. My MOH only did what I asked and to make it easier for me, which has just back fired immensly.
She is not behaving as a friend at all. A true friend would immediately understand the need to not talk about a difficult issue. Her demanding to talk about it is all about her needs not yours.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Is she jealous that she isn't MOH by any chance ?
Really I can't imagine any friend acting the way she has -but it struck me she felt the MOH was "taking over" (not saying she is but just wondering if friend is feeling her nose is out of joint)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I am a Bridezilla and my confession is....
Well i have a few.... but my main confession is everything HAS to be as i want it on the day....
this is mainly due to the fact that -
1) i dont want people to have their boobs on show in their dresses (i ahve a couple of friends that love to have them on show YUK)
2) id love it ALL the family(both mine and oh) to get along. they dont 'fight' but even though they are both on the same par in life they dont want to see eye to eye....
3)bit like number 1 i have a couple of people that would love to outshine me on the day....which is a shame really but i cant say no dont come to the weddign as they are family erg.
and lastly... i need to learn how to DIY flowers, cakes and decorations asap becuase what i like is either costly or not exactly how i want it!
god... im not putting much stress on myself haha!0 -
bonkers - Nobody will outshine you on your wedding day, and anyone that attempts to do so will be thought of as a fool!
I got my pageboy suits, and they're not cream, or ivory, but a light beige/taupe! Disgraceful! Grrrr0 -
SLight bridezilla moment this morning which is completely irrational as it has NO effect on my day what soever.
Got engaged two weeks ago, friend at work got engaged today (she's been desperate for him to propose so I'm well happy for her)
Not too impressed at the fact that they got engaged after us but are getting married before us! (Stop sniggering at the back I know it doesn't matter AT ALL especially as we'll have completely different weddings but for some reason it still narked me off)
Maybe it's cos I had a rubbish nights sleep last night!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0 -

I'm with you on this one too!
I got engaged in June 2011, wedding is a couple of weeks away. My friend got engaged in Dec 2011 and got married in the June (2012). So by the time I get married she'll have her 1 year anniversary under her belt.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Hahaha 74jax (must resist the urge to call you Ajax!) I know it's completely daft as it will have NO bearing on our day at all but part of me wants to stamp my feet and wail "but I got engaged FIIIIRST!"Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

It's ok, i'm known as Ajax on this board so that's fine :rotfl:redfragglebiker wrote: »but part of me wants to stamp my feet and wail "but I got engaged FIIIIRST!"
At least I had a good 6 months of being the 'engaged one', I guess the attention will have shifted to her now too.
Just don't get involved in the which band are you having/what colours/what kind of cake/my wedding will be bigger than yours..............Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
