  • I know this will sound ridiculous but we spent ages deciding on an amazing menu and are paying extra to give people choices, but now we've got the replies back, most people have gone for the same thing! This annoys me far more than it should... :rotfl:

Was it chicken? I only ask because we're deciding on our "you must choose one meal and one meal only" menu!

So here's my rant of the week - photography-related...

First, a bit of background. OH and I are both keen amateur photographers, and we have a pretty clear idea of what we want, as well as what can be achieved. Our photographers are two friends of ours who are both professional photographers - they are fairly recent photography grads (he got a 1st, she got a 2:1) and have some experience of shooting weddings. They offered to do our wedding photography for £500.00 - and for that, we will get the two of them covering my exit from the bridal car, the ceremony, photos of the bridal party, and the reception. They are giving us all the images we want on disk, and we can do anything we want with them (besides obviously passing them off as our own work :p )

So we met yesterday to visit the venue (as they haven't been inside before), and we spent about an hour going through the photos we want, with our photographers taking test shots to see what would work on the day. Everything went really well, and I think it's going to work out great - we had a look through the test shots they'd taken, and their composition and eye for a good shot is spot on.

Then I went into work today, and was chatting with a couple of colleagues about it. I mentioned that our photographers are friends of ours. They responded by telling me stories about people they knew who'd had friends shoot their weddings and had absolutely hated the photos... Now is it just me, or is that quite insensitive?! I'm trying to reassure myself, but thanks to said colleagues, I'm panicking that we're making a huge mistake re photography :(

When they say they friend did it did their friends have as much experience as your friends do?

Often you find that peoples "friends" is some wally with an expensive SLR camera who fanices themselves as David Bailey :)

    I think you'll be ok hun x

I suspect it was the "friend-with-an-SLR-who-thinks-that-makes-them-a-pro" kind of thing :p thank you for your post, it's cheered me up - I know I'm probably worrying over nothing but it's nice to get another opinion on it!

You get them all the time lol. Same thing happened to a couple of my friends at their weddings. Shots not lined up properly, over exposed ect.

Me & OH are similer to you and yours by the sounds of things. He is much better than me but I know my way around a camera lol. I would never dream of taking someones wedding photos though.

Sometimes it's a great relief getting someone elses POV. I really think by the sounds of your friends creditentials you have got yourself a bargin and a good one too x

Just want to pop in and give my 10p worth on the photography thing and say...go with your instinct and what you are happy with and comfortable with and blow what anyone else says....

Sounds to me as if the 2 TOGS you have chosen know you well and are keen to do a great job and thats what matters...relax and enjoy the day and those photos will be a perfect reminder...however start doubting them now and you'll be wary on the day and those nerves will show through in your photos....

As others have said, it's more likely that the colleagues have had friends who happen to own an SLR, (possibly hooked in by instagram) and think they're a photographer. Even our neighbour said "I could get my girlfriend to help, she's a professional photographer.. well, erm, she's got a professional camera".

At a friend's wedding in September she had a photographer friend take the pics, and they were good, but she's still waiting for some. Mind you, that was a freebie. You're paying your togs, and they've got actual degrees in it, and they know that you know a bit about the business, so relax, and well done!

ooo I have something to post :rotfl:

My DD has tried on her bridesmaid dress and it's a touch too tight  fit fine a couple of months ago........... mentioned it to MOH who admitted she hadn't lost the pounds she hoped she had and hers doesn't fit at all

We only have 7 weeks to go and I'm so busy so said they can just go pick something together and it doesn't matter what shape/colour etc.

The questions I'm getting 'mum i can't find anything' 'are you sure you don't mind any colour' 'do they have to be the same mum'............... I really don't care, just pick a dress!
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Blimey you poor things having guests drop out! Have you got anyone you can bump up?

One of my flowergirls has had a hair cut and now she's got a fringe! I had long flowing locks in mind! Would it be wrong to put hair extensions on a 5 year old? ;)

Depending on how long the fringe is, and how thick her hair is, with a narrow, long fringe, I could part it and pin it under the hair to the sides. Then I'd just brush my hair at the sides forward a bit, you could also work it into braids along with some longer hair if needed and pin back.

You could clip it to the side and disguise with a headband.......
