I wish I could ban hats... I have just said that if the hat is too big and blocks the view of the person behind you, you have to sit at the back! :rotfl: MiL2b thinks I'm joking....
I haven't decided if I am yet....:T0 -

I'm not trying to offendanyone-just offering another perspective! I undrestand what this thread is for - I have vented on here myself. If I said something and someone can offer a differing point of view then I would happily listen. It doesn't mean the OP has to listen to me though!

MeganI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Now that is a good idea.
no I wanted to ban hats from my wedding. I requested that people who will be in a lot of photos (so close family) don't wear hats but MIL ignored me. And no, she looks ridiculous in what she wears every day and I laughed when I first saw the photo of her in that stupid fascinator because it was that bad.
I have this image of MIL in the widest hat possible and in the photos people won't be able to stand next to her unless they are shorter and the two people sitting either side of her during the meal will have their heads at 45 degree angle because her hat will be in the way.
If she insists on wearing a hat then it should be something like this:
but it will probably be something like this:
That hat is hillarious - if she wears that you will hae to ask her to sit on a chair at the front of the line! I guess at least she isn't boring or predictable?

True - but other people have replied and given their opinion. It is just they agreed. My opinion differed. It is not offensive or wrong to give a reply which doesn't agree.

Ok I got engaged less than a WEEK ago and already OH's lack of involvement in wedding planning is irritating me - DESPITE the fact that I well know it's an incredibly busy time at work for him at the moment and he is really stressed out....99% of me is 'poor lamb' and very supportive but a little bit of me thinks WELL WHY DID YOU PROPOSE TO ME AT SUCH A BUSY TIME THEN! also HE'S the one who said he wanted to get married ASAP and was disappointed that we can't get anything booked for this December - if you wanted to get married this December (which would be perfect, so do I) then WHY NOT PROPOSE TO ME LAST SUMMER?! Why don't men think?! He also doesn't seem to understand that if we want to go for April 2013 which is our next option (limited to school holidays) then we need to start booking NOW, or actually yesterday or two months ago! Heck I don't want to be going all wedding planning crazy right now either - we haven't even bought a proper engagement ring yet and that's what I should be most excited about - plus I am trying to recover from a really nasty illness and preparing to go back to work soon (yay) - but if you propose to someone and then 20 minutes later say you want to get married as soon as possible then SOMEONE HAS TO START DOING THE PLANNING!!!!! *
*disclaimer. I am being totally irrational. We have been engaged less than a week. Fiance is working ridiculously long hours and is so stressed at work and that is NOT his fault. But still...0 -

I do technically have a ring on the finger, mainly because as soon as he'd proposed I dragged him into one of the many garnet shops in Prague, where we were, and got him to buy me one as I didn't feel engaged without one! But although it's pretty it's cheap and not an engagement ring, so I can't wait to go shopping for the real one.0 -
the HAT argument - we are having fun with this one too. we want a relaxed informal wedding part of which to me means no hat or fascinator - except my gran who normally wears a very stylish trilby every day. I want people to understand that as I am not wearing a traditional wedding dress, and H2B won't even be in suit, that they don't have to spend a fortune on a new outfit, etc. All we ask is clean clothes without holes in, and no offensive slogans on t-shirts.
I haven't got an engagement ring either, was very picky about what I wanted so my fault - i think H2B is ordering it today :j.When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.
:whistle:0 -
My mum isn't wearing a hat, she just has never liked them, used to drive my granny to despair as she wouldn't wear a hat as a kid in the middle of winter lol! But everyone from MIL2B to my aunties (mum's sisters) think it's terrible she won't be wearing one. I'm starting to get annoyed on her behalf now, as long as my mum is there I don't care if she wears a hat or not!!0
