Hello ladies, has been a while since I posted. Hope you're all OK.

Autumn bride, I can actually tell in your message that you're quite angry and fed up. You've made my problems seem trivial. I do hope you get everything sorted. I'm no good at advice I'll just say I'm here if you want a damn good moan. x x x

Well, fiance wants to lose some weight before he goes to have his suit made. That's all well and good but we've got 7 months left and the tailor has said for a wedding suit he wants 6 months to do it. Looks like I'm going to be dragging him to the tailors before long because he won't stop eating bread WITH EVERY MEAL HE HAS so he isn't going to lose a pound in weight. STEP AWAY FROM THE BREAD, DARLING!!!!!!!

Mum is still comparing our wedding to the 23 year old chav's wedding that she went to 2 years ago. Mum actually picked up on the fact that the bride had white flowers and because she didn't really take care of them, by the time she got married they'd gone a bit brown and were bruised. Based on that I've always wanted fake flowers so I bought these.....

and mum says I'm being cheap. Well, excuse me mother, but I don't have a job, I don't want to throw money away and I most certainly am not happy with having everything I'm doing compared to a wedding you went to 2 years ago where the bride was over 10 years younger than me. Polar opposites is an understatement!!! I showed my sister the flowers and her response was "Oooo, they'll match my dress!" Well of course they will, my whole flaming colour scheme is based on your dress you diva, but thanks for saying "Good choice" or "They're so pretty!" I've got no one to talk about over everything because I either get compared to other people or I'm being selfish for putting myself first.

Mum also says I'm selfish for choosing an expensive venue that I knew my sister couldn't afford. It's not my fault that my sister got pregnant at 19, bought a house at 20, was in 30k of debt by 21 and has remortgaged so many times that they've been in negative equity for the past 4 years. So far to cater for her and her bloke and kids, it's cost me nearly £800, if my sister can't sacrifice one night out between now and August I'm afraid I'm not going out of my way to pay for anything else. I've got guests coming from Germany, France and Australia and they're all making a big effort, why can't she??

I told my mum that we're inviting another 30 people to the reception too. They're all my fiance's workmates who actually want to be there for us for the day but are needed at work seeing as though my fiance is having the entire week off and mum's response was "well, don't think I'm paying for it, I don't know any of them!" By that point, I asked to speak to my dad, I couldn't hack it any more.

    Give me strength!!!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)
  • awh everyone lets just have ne great big bridezilla hug!!!!

to be honest I really dont think many of our gripes are very bridezilla at all.

I think from reading this I can write a few little pieces of advice to follow haha

    1) Mothers will always either be a blessing or a curse... as will future mother in laws haha

    2) as for the +1 thing... like it or lump it. if its only your name on the invite then its only you ive invited. my cousin got married last year and ive intivetd all of my cousins but none of their other halfs or children because I just cant accomodate them. I understand shes married and if she doesnt want to come thats here choice but im not changing the guest list and inviting her husband (who i dont really like anyway) when it means I would have to uninvite someone I actually want there.

    3) dont tell anyone anything unless they really need to know!!! having a brilliant idea and having it shot down by someone is the most heartbreaking thing ever so ive decided that im only telling people whats happening if they are essential to the arrangements.

4)The final piece of advice is smile and keep calm..... everything will be worth it when you walk down that aisle and marry the love of your life.... everything else is irrelevant :)

Ah screamer, glad you've reappeared - was worried as not seen you about for a few days :) the flowers are lovely! I've had similar issues with my mum, only she's comparing my choice of flowers to what she had when she got married 27 years ago!!

Thanks ladies, always glad for the support. Am glad someone likes my flowers, OH can't see the big deal. He will on the day, he's not going to know what's hit him lol.

I've been making some bits for the wedding. I have bought a load of beads and things and I'm making wine glass charms for all of the guests. Didn't want to spend a fortune on wedding favours so did a bit of searching for free aftershave and perfume samples online and I'm going to see how many I can collect between now and August. If anyone spots any then let me know. Oh, I'm so cheap lol.

You're all always so nice, gotta love this forum x x

  • I am a Bridezilla because...

My sister is attempting to sabatage my wedding and I haven't spoken to her since 5th January due to her being a spiteful moo!

Basically she has made no effort whatsoever to help me, told me that the bridesmaids dresses were hideous and that she'd never wear them, said to my parents that she didn't want to be bridesmaid and when I called her up and asked her if she would rather be a guest as I knew that wearing something she didn't like would make her feel uncomfortable, she totally denied ever saying that!

To top it off, she said she never said the dress was horrible, she just wanted to lose weight and was thinking of me and the money, she also said how she "begged me" not to have the uni whilst she was at uni and how inconsiderate was I for having it now. Then she topped it off by saying how she hasn't felt included and how my other bridesmaids are more involved.

My lovely bridesmaid has been emailing her and asking her if she had any time off over Easter (my sister has decided to go to uni) so we could work the hen night around her and have it in my home town (despite this being a trek for most of us, including me.) Well she said that she, and I quote, "isn't doing a half !!!!!d and pointless course like BlahBlah" - that course is the same one I did to become a teacher! Grrrrrr! Cue me putting the phone down.

Also, have just had called up my parents who asked when I'm ringing my sister and saying (not asking) if one of my aunts and uncles can't come to the wedding, then there friends will... HAHAH! NO THEY WON'T as a) I won't let them and b) my parents would have to pay for them and they won't do that.

    Pfffffffffft!

    Rant over!

  • Oh and I must add that my sister is married BUT did it alone (just he and her OH) so I'm thinking she's feeling jealous.

She was due to have a BFG wedding but my parents demanding various guests at the wedding (notably my OH's parents - why?) she decided to cancel it.

After spending hours and hours coding my own website and making sure it looks good and works well, none of the guests have even been on it apart from my parents and my brother. They all prefer to spend money on buying a stamp and putting the RSVP through the mail. Argh! I shouldn't have bothered.
