Thanks ladies, always glad for the support. Am glad someone likes my flowers, OH can't see the big deal. He will on the day, he's not going to know what's hit him lol.
I've been making some bits for the wedding. I have bought a load of beads and things and I'm making wine glass charms for all of the guests. Didn't want to spend a fortune on wedding favours so did a bit of searching for free aftershave and perfume samples online and I'm going to see how many I can collect between now and August. If anyone spots any then let me know. Oh, I'm so cheap lol.
You're all always so nice, gotta love this forum x x
I want to make wine charms for my hen wknd, where did you get your beads from?Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -

Have a look on the thread I've just created hun. I'm going to make as many bits and bobs as I can and will be needing you ladies to give me opinions. Haven't got anyone else to ask so I'll ask people who don't know me so won't be worried about offending me :-) Not fair for me to hijack this threadYaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
Hey everyone I finally get to join in yay been lurking for ages but im so glad i can finally post my bridezilla views haha.
Well Im LouLou and im a bridezilla because....
Ive found my venue its perfect its so unique and special to us as a couple all in one but my OH wants to keep looking and wants a formal wedding in a castle with 3 course meal and the whole shabang because thats what his mother always wanted for him... ARGH!!!!
firstly.... we're really not a very formal couple, both outgoing and love history etc as were always going on random trips to museums etc so getting married in a victorian town seemed like the perfect idea to me.
secondly... his mother hasnt even spoken to me for 4 months because she knew he was going to propose and has since decided im enemy number one because ive stolen her son.... its a shame she doesnt know that im the one who makes him drive 3 hours to go and see her otherwise he'd just sit on his ps3 and see her at christmas.
thirdly... ive only just started wedding stuff and im already in a tizz... gosh i empathise with all of you!!! this wedding plannings really hard work haha
lots of love... loulou
Oh your post so resonated for me!
I am now divorced and 'his' family have cut me out, particularly his elderly mother even tho if it were not for me, he would never have maintained contact with a single one of them!
I used to dial their numbers and hand him the phone to make sure he kept in contact but I'm the 'bad' one!
Makes you laugh. Or cry.:o0 -
Having laughed and at some cried reading the previous pages, time for my own little bridezilla moments
first, no i'm aren't getting a traditional engagement ring as I wouldn't be able to wear it for work or in motorbike gloves. I want to wear my ring all the time so i'm getting a stardust engraved titanium one - so why are people disappointed on my behalf, i'm ecstatic that i found a ring that suits my lifestyle and will be unique to me.
We have set the date for May next year, but if one more person says that its too far away and we should have it sooner they will see me erupt!
We are not having a formal sit down do. We are having high tea for family and guests to the service, followed by a pie and pea supper with live band for the evening. We want chance to talk to all our guests and mingle, we don't want rigid formality to get in the way of a good catch up and natter. My darling mother thinks this will make us less married! We see it as time to catch up with those people we don't get to see as often as we would like
We have booked the registry office, but have been warned that if a general election is called a few weeks before or after we can't use it as they use it for storing ballot boxes. So we may find out only 2 weeks before the wedding - if this happens I will drive down to downing street and abuse David Cameron!
and finally on a good note sort of, while working in Glasgow last week I bought a gorgeous pair of wedge heel shoes with a sprinkling of diamantes from House of Fraser for the big day, the assistant was brilliant when I told her what they were for and I hadn't even sorted the dress yet. But I know my mum will now be upset that I am once again doing things backwards. When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

Brightside, your engagement ring sounds beautiful! Please post pics when you can
Don't worry about your date - ours is June next year and I'm not worrying about it being too far away - gives us plenty of time to sort everything out
Your mum sounds quite intense - I'm sure she means well though! Mine's not been too bad so far - but she does keep grumbling from time to time about the guestlist being a list of people she doesn't know (i.e. friends of me and OH) - this isn't the case at all, as there are plenty of family members on there too, and whenever I've shown her the list she's been happy with it. But that doesn't stop her having a grump about it periodically! Oh well...:j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -
Your engagement ring sounds fab brightside! Tbh, I'm fed up of seeing the same style ones all the time lol. We're getting married in May next year too and people have also gone on about it being too far away, especially as we booked it last sept. They can jog on as far as I'm concerned...May 31st 2013 is the right time for me and OH so that's all that matters. Your reception plans sound like great fun and I'm sure all your guests will have a brilliant time!0

Not so much bridezilla, but groomzilla. I just wanted to write it down and get it out of my system.
H2B's best man got married in September last year, and their now expecting their first child. He still hasn't met the new wife yet, and doesn't seem to want to return H2B's calls. He spoke with another friend yesterday and has found out that baby is due on 20 July, which is day after our wedding.
H2B is more upset that best man hasn't bothered to ring him to let him know, and is very miffed to say the least. His comment was, that if he was just a guest he wouldn't have minded so much, but the fact that he's playing a part in the wedding has upset him and also that he hasn't spoken to him to tell him.
We've spoken about it, and he'll give BM a call next week to find out what's happening. He's already asked who should give a speech now there's the possibility of BM not being there.0 -
I can understand why he would be more than miffed about not being told.
LisaJane, we are having high tea rather than formal meal for our wedding breakfast, that way, people can eat the variety of cakes and ignore the savoury if they like.
and if i'm expected to be enthusiastic about a vol-au-vent one more time I shall ram one up each of the caterers nostrils on wedding day. How many times - I DO NOT WANT VOL-AU-VENTS AT MY WEDDING!!!!!!!When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.
