We got an RSVP for my OH's workmate and his wife for the day (brilliant). Their 2 children weren't invited. What happened on the day? They brought one of their kids with them!! Luckily OH sprang into action and sorted it with the venue co-ordinator who re-laid the table and found a dinner for the kid. Their excuse? They didn't realise their children weren't invited. So why not put them on the RSVP and then only bring one of them??! People are strange!0

Anyone who doesn't attend the ceremony wouldn't be invited to the wedding breakfast. I'd ask her just to come in the evening Becca.
Extras on RSVPs are really annoying - we've didn't mind a couple of people bringing their children as they are 9+ and quite sensible, we've said it's up to them if they want to watch the ceremony because I don't want them to be bored. BUT, now these people expect their children to attend the breakfast - umm, NO! It's money we don't have and I don't want everyone being different as there's children around.
However, if we don't have the children, one of the parents won't come to the meal, because the children can't sit in the hotel for an hour and a half on their own. The rooms are upstairs, not 30 miles away!! Am I being unreasonable?
Erm... perhaps a little.Probably best to explain to them that you're not having kids at the wedding and let them decide whether they can come or not. HTH.
Slightly off topic here - but can we decide what the purpose of this thread is?
Is it so we can poke fun at ourselves at our stupid whims and wants regarding our weddings? (Like the OPs desire for all her guests to wear her colours). Or is it so we can offload our serious gripes and complaints about the planning process? I think there is a need for both, but maybe not necessarily in the same thread - I don't know.
Yesterday I wrote a fairly lengthy reply about reasons for not attending a church ceremony, but still wanting to be part of the day and celebrate with the couple. But then I talked myself out of posting it because this thread originally wasn't about criticising each other. Just somewhere for us to offload. But we can't have 'omg that is so justified' posts and not expect 'you are being totally unreasonable' replies at the same time.
Why am I writing this? Because I read this thread, but don't reply to anyone because I no longer know what the purpose of this thread is. I don't mean to upset anyone, just throwing this out there so to speak.
Good post Mrs D. Not sure what the purpose is - just general moaning etc I guess! Some funny, some serious, some ridiculous.
Btw, I only answered Gemmzie as she asked for people's opinions. I think we all do keep it pretty polite and nice, on the whole.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

I wanted others opinions as I wasn't sure if it was unreasonable to not expect to feed children that hadn't been invited! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

I think this is a thread for silliness (see below) but also for serious advice sometimes. Maybe we should keep it for the silliness???
I am a bridezilla because I actually threw something at my Hubby to be because he'd stopped listening to me going on about tablecloths after about 4 hours!!! (It was only a tea towel, but still!)
And also because on our wedding website RSVP it clearly says who you are RSVPing on behalf of (Just me, me +1 other invited guest etc) yet my uncle has written 2 names, but still put just one person, so on my first RSVP my numbers are wrong!!!
But, I have sorted the tablecloths after 3 sleepless nights!!! Yay!!!First date 10.2.2002

H2B's family (or quite a lot of them) have a group on facebook, and I'm getting irrationally annoyed by the fact that only one person has commented on our post that we put up confirming our date. All right, so most people already knew anyway thanks to the familial grapevine, but BE EXCITED DAMMIT!!! :rotfl:
BTW, we will be sending lovely handcrafted invites out, but to us the Save The Date is just us saying "This is our date. Got it in your diary? Good". We didn't have time/couldn't be bothered to do proper Save The Dates...Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012
