I am a Bridezilla and my confession is....

I do feel like its a bit childish to feel this way. I dont mind that she's getting married before me, Im the last one I know who is getting married and we had one of the longest engagements, lol. There are loads of hotels in our area that she could have chosen from and I know that if the shoe was on the other foot, I would not have looked at the hotel and would have chosen another one to keep it special for her.0

So happy I have found this thread. Getting married next week and no longer understand the difference between normal responses and bridezilla responses.
I think I have been pretty level headed until:
Put in a request to work to change my email address to my new name when I am on honeymoon, they did it yesterday. Such a small thing but it made me sob! I was so looking forward to coming back and using my new name. My colleagues have been great and so have our customers I have had so many congratulations but it seems wrong as I still don’t get married for 10 days.
Today one of my best friends has emailed to say her boyfriend 'cant be bothered' to come to the wedding. Bit of history we have never particularly got on but I am always civil to him and encourage her as they actually seem a good couple. With 10 days to go the name tags, seating plan etc are all printed. It really upset me,, I think the wording 'cant be bothered' made it worse as it seems to devalue the event (well in my Bridezilla head anyway!).
I am also so sick of other peoples questions, when I get invited anywhere I just go ahead and organise myself, yet for some reason really capable people keep ringing up with stupid questions such as 'how should I do my daughters hair'!! Bizarre as I have seen such different sides to people who I previously thought had it together. We are having quite a laid back wedding, no dress code and the reception is in a barn. I was quite clear in the invite that we just want people to enjoy themselves (a huge part of our budget has gone on alcohol so people wont have to pay out), yet I feel others are making more of a 'formal deal' of the day than us, almost trying to mould the day into their version of what a wedding should be. If I get one more question that is stupid I may just explode!
Thanks for listening, feel a little better!0 -

It's not childish, honestly. She could have chosen another venue, most people would have!I would not have wanted to have the same venue as my sibling/cousin/friend if at all possible.
Is there any reason why she chose it, do you think?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

I think she just wanted to have the fairy-tale wedding too, and hasn't stopped to think about how I feel about it. Which is why I haven't said anything to her or to my family, I wouldn't want her to feel bad for wanting her day to be special. I just needed to rant to someone impartial!0

I would totally not be happy if my best friend told me that! If my partner told me he couldnt be bothered I would tell him to suck it up and go, and no way would I mention it to the bride and groom!0 -

Rant away to us, we understand!!! :A
So this hotel is nicer than the others nearby? If it's not in some way special/different, it is strange that she chose it.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

stir_crazy: Just thnk you will be able to see how she has her day with regards to decorations etc and make sure yours it better!
Big hugs very thoughtless of her :grouphug:Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
Thanks! It is a gorgeous, romantic hotel, its an old mansion thats been converted. I can totally see why she chose it - there was only one other hotel that compared for my partner and I and that was going to be 3 times the price. This is why I said above that I wouldnt have even gone to look at the hotel. There are other hotels that are decorated in a similar way and just as nice and they are all fairly close by.0

That reminds me - my friend got married 2 weeks ago and she had quite a few little touches/decor styles that I was planning on having - what are my options here? She will be at my wedding btw.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs
