i'm not sure if her chances are that slim- if she is 15/16 she make not be on the pill/have ever had hormonal contraception which means it's likely her cycle is pretty regular?0

But then again, strictly speaking, taking the contraceptive pill or using condoms also goes against the Catholic faith.
strictly speaking having sex before marriage is against the catholic faith...0 -
Oh dear! I take it your son wasn't looking her in the eye at the time!
Sorry all, I know we're trying to be very supportive here, but quite honestly, if you're confident enough to have sex then you should be able to manage a trip to the GP.
I'm afraid I have to agree. Is it possible that there's a part of her that thinks it wouldn't be that terrible to have a baby? If she's shy is she also a bit naive?0 -
If she does come back with the MAP, please make sure she takes the second pill at the correct time. I hope all goes well."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0

Without wishing to antagonise, if the girl is indeed Catholic then she isn't a very strict one sleeping with her boyfriend before marriage, and using contraception in the first place (even if it has failed).
I still think her parents need to be involved, if she is unable to manage this herself, and unless they would go bonkers and physically attack her. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
OP be carefull with this one. you have to tread delicately and ensure she doesnt see you as scary in any way iyswim (though I doubt that as she has asked you to go with her tonight but still its important). hopefully she will take the MAP and there will be no pregnancy. If this is the case (as am sure we all hope it will be) consider that she would rather not have told her own mum and sought advice from her...this is very worrying!! on top of that she does seem uneducated as far as sex is concerned (as she said map is like abortion)....all in all its very worrying.
maybe she feels she cant talk to her mum about it so maybe you could have a bit of a one to one with her (when this is all over) to help her understand the many forms of contraception etc and help her understand no form of contraception gives you 100% protection....that there is always a risk and she needs to be prepared for that (as does your son). Maybe also have another talk about it with your son too and see if you can advise him any further for the future.
fingers and toes firmly crossed this doesnt result in an unwanted pregnancy.0 -
It isn't only Catholics who are against the MAP. As it acts after conception that makes it an abortifacient if you take life as starting at conception. The whole it isn't a pregnancy until implantation is a fairly recent belief and makes things such as embryo research up to 14 days less contentious.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

It was also a belief until fairly recently that life only started at quickening and the woman was just a vessel for the man's child. (or is that just the central tenet of religion again?)
I would thought the fact that the ovum in the petri dish mixed with a dollop of semen is less contentious because it hasn't exactly been untimely ripp'd from a womb [misquote of Shakespeare], it was never there in the first place.
But hey, just so long as shy 15 year olds are left to try and cope with carrying a baby, let's start with the it's baby murder stuff....I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Anyone who would put the wellbeing of a bundle of unimplanted cells above that of a pair of 15 year olds probably doesn't have anything useful to add to this thread.
Lots of things are 'recent beliefs', this occurs because our knowledge grows over time as those clever science people keep finding out new stuff!0 -
Send her to boots, they give the morning after pill out free to that age group.0
