    Give her a slap!

Have you spoken to the girls mother? I'd be round there like a shot! your son's 16 - should he really be lumbered with a kid just because this girl wont take a tablet? STUPID!

    (sorry! lol)
  • Well working on rough dates she would probab;y be around day 14 of her cycle today so there is quite a good chance she may fall pregnant. Ulitmately though, you can give all the advise in the world but she will make her own decision. I think you just need to have a sit down with your son and see if he is aware of the risks and his options, and let him discuss it with his girlfriend. Is she on the pill as well?

This is probably not the best advice but this is what I would do. Basically I would talk to her direct so you can try and convince her to get the morning after pill (you can get them from the pharmacy for free now) and if she is reluctant I would threaten to talk to her parents. And I would actually go through with this.

I know it's probably not ethical but if it was my son I would do anything to protect him from becoming a father at 15.

She needs to go to the doctors and get the regular pill anyway if they are going to be having sex.

Yup, there is a risk. However small a risk, it's still there. I'd have thought a girl in that position would be legging it to the chemist.... Is it the cost/embarrasment/risk her parents will find out that's putting her off? There's only a certain shelf life for the morning after pill (think it's about 72 hours) so the longer she leaves it the worse off she's going to be if she decides she doesn't want to be pregnant after all.

Well at least they took a precaution even if it did go wrong. She should go and take the morning after pill, sperm stay alive for a bit so you never know... Plus the morning after pill is best used asap, i would go and talk to her mother if it were me.

Hopefully your son has had a very nasty scare and that will be all, but I don't think it's worth risking this to chance. The girlfriend should be seeing a doctor, and you, as the parent of an underage son having sex, should be talking to the girlfriend's parents. Your son and his girlfriend have just committed an act which has the potential to wreck both their future lives, emotionally and financially. They're still children who are incapable of dealing with this problem with any level of maturity. Time for parents to intervene and exert some control.

Ring her mum and have her drag her to the doctors/FPC.. then explain to them both the risks (which they'll already know!) and that you are proud they are sensible enough to be using condoms which indicates they do no want a baby which is great because they have so much to see and do and a baby while very rewarding makes a lot of it difficult.. blahblah.. Then explain the day after conception when you take the morning after pill it is nothing like abortion as it is 2/4 cells.. that is not a baby.. that isn't even anything.

Sometimes what these young 'uns take for 'a life' is beyond me!! The schools may tell them the basics but if they are going to do that they should at least cover he sensible stuff as well!

Do they have a school nurse? If so, it would be worth a quick call to them to ask them to have a word. They can do this without getting anybody else at school involved, and in some cases can actually give out the morning after pill if that is what the girl wants.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Hi Julie,
General stats reckon there is a 20-30% chance of conceiving in a given cycle and if she was on Day 9 of a regular cycle (@ approx 28 days)she may well have been coming up to her fertile window too.

Is she defintely against the MAP? Would she talk to a professional to get clear advice? Marie Stopes have a 24hr hotline and information about this pill (£15 for under 18s) 0845 300 8090.

    I hope everything works out.
