Witter: Sorry I have no idea if they update on a bank holiday, I would suspect not as a bank holiday is not treated as a normal working day. I have just been lookin on line a different things and came accross an article - I have copied the following text "The Tax Credit Office sends you an award notice following your claim for tax credits. The tax credits payments you get throughout the year are temporary, or 'provisional'. This means that they are paid to you throughout the year based on your current circumstances and your income from last year. Between April and June each year the Tax Credit Office asks you to renew your claim, this helps them to check that the payments they've made to you are correct".

Thought would put it on here as it may put a few people's minds a rest. As far as I understand then - everyone gets a provisonal award following a renewal/claim and it is only finalised at the end of the year when you do your renewal. I know some people have been putting threads on here about only having received a provisional award.
Thanks alot pinkpigg at least i know its not odd that i received one, i hope they have sorted when i ring tuesday. When you renewed monday did you call them back tuesday?

I renewed Monday - not seen anything different in my bank yet - maybe its a bit too soon to be panicking?? Would like to know though if anyone has renewed by the main number ONLY despite getting a letter from the rewewal specialist and had their renewal completed - ie. payments and award notices??? (Chance would be a fine thing getting through the number on the letter from the specialist team).

Its a different team, but the paper is the same. I have had three investigations lately and they are all in this coloured paper. I know that sounds silly but I am wondering if one has sparked the other. Compliance only usually get involved once a renewal has happened not normally before. This is a HMRC office not normally used for tax credits.

Hiya, i received the letter from the specialist renewal which said they know people find it hard renewing taxcredit every year and they would like us to speak to a specialist advisor to make sure we are receiving the right amount of taxcredit and not being over or under paid and to call the number on the letter. What did your letter say?? And what number did you have to call??

Hiya, they didnt ask for mine. I received a letter saying they know people have problems with renewing and they wanted me to ring a specialist renewal team who would check that i am receiving the right amount of money and to make sure i'm not being under or over paid. 400,000 people have also been sent the letter but the specialist renewal teams office are only open mon-fri 9am-5pm and are contantley engaged so i had to renew through the main line as i also work full time but they said it would be processed as normal and i would receive a few award notices in the post so i hope all will be sorted in a couple of days, she told me to call back tuesday and they should be able to give me new payment details. I knw taxcredit system updates over night but with the bank holiday so hopefully it will sorted by tomorrow and i can put my mind to rest as its been such a worrying process this year x

Hiya, i think it was broxon that had made a post about the birth certificate they never asked for anything like that the letter just said they know some people have problems renewing each year and they wanted me to speak to a specialist advisor to make sure i am receiving the right amount of money and not being under or over paid. So did you renew through main helpline and did they say they had to check your claim before they could renew? The woman who i spoke to insisted it had gone through fine and i would receive a few award notices in the post but i could call them tomorrow to find out my new payment details. I hope they sort all this mess out soon x
