Hi I recieved a letter this morning from tax credits saying that they know some ppl have trouble renewing their tax credits and this year they would like me to talk to a specialist advisor that will go through my claim with me and ensure that i am recieving the correct amount then they start to go on about overpayments.I don't have any problems with renewing my forms each year. When i phoned the normal tax credits number and enquired about what was happening they didn't have an answer as to why i had been asked to contact this group of specialist advisors i hardly ever ring the tax credits as very rarely have any changes to report any ideas what is going on

So far this year I have been investigated for fraud for Carers allowance, Inland Revenue expenses claim and Disability Living Allowance. All of that cos someone decided that cos I had fallen out with them they would cause my life hell. I was wondereing if they are now investigating me for this.0

I also recieved this today and like everyone else I have no trouble filling it in. I am also self employed and dont earn much and I also phoned them last week to inform them my 16yr old son is staying on at school. I am wondering if they are just checking up and its a way of investigating whether people are telling the truth!!0

It probably is genuine. I got a letter from another team last August to discuss my claim and that made me nervous even though I had nothing to hide. I phoned them up and there wasn`t a problem. Just went through my claim again.0

it seems from what i can work out they are looking at cases where they think there may have been an overpayment
