I renewed this way - last Monday (26th) by Friday 30th I had had an extra payment go into my account. My payment dates are usually a Wednesday. Not received my award notice yet, just assume they are on route.0

Easier said than done, I know, but I would try n not to worry too much. I think some of these helpline advisers "get off" making people worry. There is no consistency with what they are telling people. I look at it this way, if they thought something was not right they would not continue to pay you - that is the first thing they would stop. I keep reading all these blogs and then worry myself and keep thinkin what if my case isn't finalised, what if they think something is wrong with it. I just wish my award notices would hurry so I can put the matter to "bed". I was told when I renewed I may get an award notice or I may not - when I questioned this I was told I may get a letter requesting more information. I phoned back and spoke to someone else who told me my renewal had gone through and it was all fine, that it processes overnight etc. I am assuming it has been looked at else why put extra money in my bank???
Hope you get it sorted soon - yal av to let us all know when it is done and dusted.
Many thanks PinkPigg. This makes me feel a lot better! Seems you have had many of the responses I did and yours has been sorted! Fingers crossed mine should be next week too.
I agree it is scary advisers giving conflicting information that is causing all of this undue stress. I also agree that payments would stop if they thought something was wrong so I guess no news is good news for now.
I'm sure yours is fine as indeed an extra payment does signal that your award has been finalised. I know how you feel in saying you want to put this to 'bed'. Last year was so easy in comparison to this year!
Of course I will let you know as and when I do. I dare not call them back again now though. They see me as some sort of pest LOL!!!
I find myself wishing a new party in who will abolish this now and give us a new system that will work and not cause all this type of stress.
I have decided in the face of adversity i'm just going to turn the other cheek. If they want me they can contact me lol. This stress is wearing me out and i'm just going to try to enjoy the bank holiday with the knowledge there is nothing that will be done until Tuesday now!
Cheers to listening to the ramblings of an old fool! :rotfl:0 -
Hi, thanks for replying, my normal payments due wednesday aswell so i just hope that goes in alright. So did you receive the letter from the specialist team aswell? I also received a provisonal award last week but i only renewed yesterday so maybe they send them out anyway.
Yes I received one of the specialist renewal letters but have renewed via the main help line number. Not quite sure why you would receive a provisional award before you renew - not heard that before - not that I want to panic you or anything. I thought the awards only go out following a change, renewal or for when you apply for the first time for tax credits.0 -

Ive just rang taxcredit main helpline about my renewal. They said it doesnt matter which way i renewed it would be done same way. They said even though i rang and renewed though main helpline its gone in the same system as specialist team and would be processed in the same way and wouldnt take any longer as i had told them about the letter when i rang to renew, so they had put a note on my claim. But she stated i should ring a different number to check if its been processed as if wont show on main helpline system straight away and could just state its processing when it had already been done. The number is totally different to main and specialist helpline. When i renewed they also said to call this number to check the process so i'm going to ring them in the morning see if its been processed yet. I also questioned as to why i had been sent a provisional award and she said it was due to a change before i renewed which was only my bank details.0

Witter: Thought your provisional award may have been to do with a change. Its good to know they use the same system, that will probably put alot of people's minds at rest. Hope it soon gets sorted.0

Had you also received a letter from a renewal specialist?? Would depend on what day you renewed, specially with the bank holiday.0 -

Witter: Sorry I have no idea if they update on a bank holiday, I would suspect not as a bank holiday is not treated as a normal working day. I have just been lookin on line a different things and came accross an article - I have copied the following text "The Tax Credit Office sends you an award notice following your claim for tax credits. The tax credits payments you get throughout the year are temporary, or 'provisional'. This means that they are paid to you throughout the year based on your current circumstances and your income from last year. Between April and June each year the Tax Credit Office asks you to renew your claim, this helps them to check that the payments they've made to you are correct".
Thought would put it on here as it may put a few people's minds a rest. As far as I understand then - everyone gets a provisonal award following a renewal/claim and it is only finalised at the end of the year when you do your renewal. I know some people have been putting threads on here about only having received a provisional award.0
