hi im new to posting but have been following this a long time but decided to give specialist team a call even though i didnt think i had to, anyway did it yesterday and was told i should of had a letter but nice lady went through it all with me and said shed take hold of and it will get finalised. today i called and it has gone through so im thinking if you get a letter just call them i did without a letter and so glad i did. i had nothing to hide so wasnt worried about it.
  • I have finally had my award notice, After weeks (approx 8 weeks) of getting no where. When I was eventually told my claim was with the specialist team and managed to get a telephone number for them. A quick call and less than 2 weeks later it's all sorted. :T

This is not entirely true, my income was £3,700 lower than what I actually earnt and my payments have dropped. When I contacted them I was told that they don't always use the last tax years renewal!

what i said is definately true, there must be other reasons why your payments dropped.

I again tried to find out what was happening with my renewal today ( as I have done 3 times every week since mid June!!) but today was different. I was told by a very nice young lady on the helpline that my renewal was indeed being dealt with by a specialist team and not to worry it was being dealt with, I then asked for the contact details of the specialist tem and was told that although she could not transfer my call she could give me a direct number:j

I called the number given and got straight through to someone who just went through my details as well as my childrens dates of birth etc and just wanted to check if the income details I had originally given on 24/5/10 were correct which they were, he then said that everything was sorted and I should be hearing with my award notice in the next few days.

This has taken probably over 50 phone calls to the helpline just to get someone sensible on the other end who actually bothered to look at my details and give me the correct contact number, surely it would be much more sensible for HMRC to give the number out straight away rather than all the ridiculous cloak and dagger stuff that goes on, it would probably mean that there would be much less of a queue on the helpline and there would not be so much wasted time.

I will hopefully not have too much of a wait now for my award notice:beer:

So, earlier in the year I phoned up to register a change in our childcare cost, when I come to renew, through the specialist team, it seems this change never got recorded. They'll do it now, but can only backdate it 30 days. Fantastic!

We then get a provisional statement through, our income details are not updated, and for last year it says we have no qualifying childcare costs.

Great, I phone the specialist team again, they say it's only provisional, ignore it. I get them to check the childcare costs, and all seems ok. She also says our renewal has been processed, but the final statement hasn't been sent out, but she'll get that done right away.

Today we get a letter saying our payments are being stopped because we haven't sent the Declaration form, or they don't have enough details to process our renewal.

    !!!!!!??!!

So, obviously I can't get through to anyone on the phone now.

    Grrrrrr

Just found this thread. I applied for WTC back in June, almost two months later I finally got the letter asking for more information. I rent a room from a friend so I don't have a rental agreement - though I do have bank statements etc that go to that address. The friend I rent from is away on holiday for two weeks :(. What shall I do? Also, any ideas what the turnaround is once you send back the extra information? I hope it isn't going to be another 6-8 weeks.

We had our working tax credit stopped last week because they claimed we were sent two letters in July asking for more info about my wife's employer.
If they did send the letters they did not come to our address and I find it hard to believe they were both lost in the post, yet the letter saying our money had stopped got here fine:mad:
On the bright side I rang Saturday morning to give them the info they wanted and when I called again Sunday afternoon it had already been sorted.I was given our new monthly amounts, all sorted in 24hrs:T
I have to say I didn't have much trouble getting through.I think the most I re dialled was three times.
