    Try Directline.

My insurance is due on Tuesday & I'm currently driving a 2001 325ci M Sport at age 31 with 12yrs NCB and driving since 17.

My renewal was £835 ... Quinn Direct £560 (but I wouldn't use them) ... and then Directline £335 !!! Then I noticed they'd up'd my excess & weren't protecting my NCB ... I corrected this and they still came in at £440 !

So guess who's getting my business on Tuesday !

You must not put your husband down as the main driver - that is fronting if the car is really your daughter's.

If she ever needed to claim they could refuse to pay out, making that hefty premuim a big waste of money.

the car will be and extra car that we can all use when we need to so I do not see the problem with the insurance being in husbands name. She will use it when she needs to. As my husband and I will be buying the car the car I do not see the problem.

why would insurance refuse to pay out if she is a named driver?

If she uses it to go to school/college/work and has an accident en route, she will be deemed to be the main user of the car. If it has not been declared that she is the main user then they won't pay out. If she drives the car once a month to the shops then that's different.

I watched it happen to some of my schoolfriends when we all got cars and dealt with this numerous times during a spell of working for an insurance company.

thanks for that but she will not be using it for school ( free train pass ) but will be using it for work occassionally.

I have had my husband as a named driver on my insurance for the last 20 years and sometimes he uses it more than me, like when I was in hospital. Never realised that a named driver had a limit on the amount of times they could use the car.

    thanks

Anyone recommend anyone who does cheap car insurance for 17 year old:confused: I have done a few quotes but the amount is over £2k for a 1998 Ford Ka. Is this normal? Long time since I was 17 lol

i was 19 when i got my first car (tho am male)

but i paid £2004 for my first years driving insurance!

2nd year was less than half of that!

forgot to mention that my first year was with quinn (read their policy carefully, tey leave lots of stuff out)

DD started driving ancient Mini (it is as old as her!) last year and was quoted £513 by Prudential. This is only 3rdPFT as the car is not worth enough to justify going Fully Comp. By purchasing via Quidco I earned £100 cashback, so final cost was £413.
Quidco now pays out £130 for Prudential car insurance policies.
