I've almost halved my car insurance this year by switching my insurance to the AA. I hightly recommend them, plus you get £70 quidco cashback.
My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Used Erne Insurance Services in Irvinestown, again this year......my wifes car 1998 Audi 1.6 used for business , fully comp etc £270......:)
  • I heard Direct Line advertising that they're now providing cover for Norn Iron.
I'm just about to change my car, and checked Confused and DL - for myself and spouse named (40 + 35, no accidents or convictions) the cheapest on Confused was AA at £285, the dearest Zurich at £384. DL came in at £678 - perhaps they should save their advertising budget for elsewhere ;)

Should have made this comment when I renewed my car insurance but for some reason only thought about it now...

I had checked with direct line and it gave me pretty much the best price, and since I'm abroad at the moment I could sort it out from far away without any problems. Their phone customer service was very helpful and friendly.

Rang Abbey and told them I wanted to leave as direct line was cheaper and could they send on the insurance details. They asked what price direct line offered me, told them but also said that that included my dad who is over 70 - last year abbey wouldn't insure my dad on my car because of his age. Didn't matter then, but this year we need him to be able to drive my car. The price also included my brother, though he doesn't fall into any major price addition categories.

Abbey said that for loyal customers they can sometimes get the insurers to cover 'difficult categories of drivers'. They said they'd check for me as they wanted to hold onto my business. Rang them back and they price matched DL (actually I rounded down the DL quote!) and included both my brother and father on the policy.

Was very happy with this. This may be my 3rd year with Abbey. (Might actually only be the 2nd but...)

So, thumbs up for Abbey's customer service.

  • The information on Axa from Linzi H is incorrect.

    The number is 0800 28 28 20 and the website is http://www.axani.co.uk
  • For info, I just checked out all the quidco insurers and these are the ones who will NOT insure in NI - should save you an hour or so!

Renewal time for me as well, trawled through the usual sites prepared for the renewal letter. It came in and is £15 less than I had been able to find online with Zurich through G&H Bell in Hillsborough.

There were cheaper ones but when you take the excess etc. into concideration the quote went up.

AXA for example were £50 dearer!
