£400 for 30 year old never previously insured on a 1.2L car...
  • renewal from elephant came in at £580 however i put my details in their website for the cod of it and it threw up £480. then admiral (who are the underwriters for elephant) about £600

Direct Line came in at £430 with another £60 coming off from quidco. So £370 has me quite happy.

Still searching... confused.com didn't give me the exact results that each individual site did by the way

I just tried Direct line which was £900 more expensive than my current company.

Axa was over £200 more expensive, I guess its difficult getting low insurance for undr 25's.

    Direct Line (RBS)
    Priviledge (RBS)
    AA
    Admiral
    Elephant (Admiral)
    Bell (Admiral)
    Diamond (Admiral)
    Endsleigh
    17 to 40 (Endsleigh)
    AXA
    Abbey (Prestige)
    Autoline (Prestige)
    Northern Bank
    Open and Direct
    Quinns

    Zurich
    Post Office (BoI)
    Yes (BoI)
    Budget (BoI)
    Adrian Flux

I recommend trying at least 5 different companies when geting quotes as the differences can be quite staggering at time . The cheapest for you may not be the cheapest for the next person .

The Swiftcover website would not accept my Northern Ireland postcode when I tried to get an insurance quote.

    Sorry - edited .
Any other insurers who cover NI , maybe we could build a definitive list .
  • Are Quinns the only company that caters for younger drivers. I have had my licence for six years and made no claims and I now have 2 year no claim bonus, is there any other company that people recommend.

Ive tried direct line and Tescos but their quotes were ridiculas.

Have you trie Admiral, Elephant etc. Also try some of the brokers like J N Bailie or Hughes ... and haggle with them ... insurance is one market where there seems to be quite a bit of scope for negotiation (my total negotiated savings last year over the stamdard renewal letters were over £200 .. possibly closer to £300)
