Just briefly
6 months from now will I feel any better?
What happens if the creditors continue to bang the interest on and my debts just increase and increase.
What happens if DCA come knocking at my door.
God I feel as if I am going to have a panic attack.
I need to stop worrying about things that may not happen. But I just cannot.
Bye everyone and Goodnight.
We can have DMP panick attacks together !:rotfl:
Sending you sweet dream vibes!!:)

Morning Mikon
I hope the morning is bringing some relief for you. I think your thoughts are all completely natural but it will get better. It's fair to say many of us go through a whole range of emotions in the same day. I was stressed beyond belief to the point I could barely function or sleep. 'Taking charge' and understanding more has helped to give me a sense of balance with all this. I still have a wobble but am getting stronger all the time. Knowledge is power, and we can all help with ideas and suggestions here and on the wider board. When I'm faced with a trauma I usually think - what's the worst that can happen and need to get my head around then and then get on with it, it usually never gets as bad as that so feels easier! I appreciate that's a matter of style. You can't neccesarily control other people's behaviour but you can have some control over how you let them affect you.
Most people worry about debt being escalated to dca and courts. If you look through the threads you will see there is a positive sping to that - usually mean debt reduced. The main things to remember for me are;- The situation wasn't going to get any better without addressing it, infact it would have got worse.:(
- I have paid a small fortune in interest due to my stupidity:eek:
- I will always make payment no matter how small, that way if judged in court (unlikely) you will be seen to be doing the right thing:A
- There are laws to stop the harrassment:mad:
- Just because they say no to stopping interest now doesn't mean they will say no in a few months time. They also have a duty of care to address debt issues, raising interest rates after you have declared financial difficulties will make them look even more scandalous, is more challengeable and less likely to happy.
- DCA don't have a right to enter your home. It's expensive for them to come too, in most cases it's just scare tactics. In the rare event they do call, dont let them in, ask for their details, tell them you been advised to call national debtline and the CCCS if they attend and you will be back with them. Close the door and call them. The only people that can come in are baliffs and that if you dont pay after a ccj has been ruled. Again this is less common as courts generally rule that you should just continue paying your dmp and order the company to freeze interest.
- I'm not alone, all the lovely people here know what it's like and if not they know someone who does:T
- I'm absolutely convinced DMP is the right thing to do:)
Hope that helps

* 6 Months from now you'll feel so much better, I started in Feb and felt like you at the time, but feel way better now. It's not on my mind constantly anymore. I do have the odd wobble (normally when a statement arrives from someone charging interest). But overall I feel way better because I'm dealing with it and that go to be better than robbing Peter to pay Paul!
* There's nothing at all to make anyone stop interest BUT the majority do, most of mine have already, they know adding the interest and charges isn't helping anyone so most do either cut interest completely, or reduce it.
* It's highly unlikely anyone will come knocking, and even if they do they have no rights to anything. If you get a letter threatening a visit write to them telling them they can't (there is a template knocking around somewhere).
Try and take a day off from thinking about the debt, I know it's easier said than done, but you are moving in the right direction now and things WILL get easier.
And have one of our dodgy hugs!! :grouphug:0 -
Mikon I feel exactly the same but I also feel its the right thing to do. I had my LBM a few months back but its taken my DH until now to agree ( tihnk for all the reasons you have stated) but thankfully he has finally agreed we can't carry on like this:o
I have just posted these questions but maybe you can help. I would love to join you. We are definitely going to need the support over the next few months.
We would be starting on a low DMP , we have £233 per month to pay towards our non priority debts. The largest one of these is the HSBC which is a total of £18,800. This includes an overdraft, credit card and personal loan.
My question is should we contact them first and ask them to combine the debt and freeze interest so we are paying off one large amount or send 3 offers of payment and let them get on with combining this, would they do that automatically?
Secondly we are at the stage were we have already opened a new account with another bank and transferred the majority of the direct debits over. I will be cancelling the last few in the coming week, can we ask that the arrangement begins from 1st June to give us a month to get organised so sending them token payments of £1 with the offer to begin the DMP in June with the actual amounts?
Though the current amount we are offering is small our income should improve as my husband is self employed and has been very affected by the recession but this should gradually improve over the coming months. At that point would we just write and offer to increase the payments?
I think I have a reasonable understanding of the way things work but as always the devil is in the detail:D Thanks in advance.Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

fab posts Hope and Newbeginning, could not have put it better, could just chip in the positive thought that we had 22 creditors, all but one stopped interest (yes folks that would be Lloyds) but even Lloyds reduced, I am in such a better place 3 months on, I even forget about the DMP for quite long periods (at least an hour!!!!) Julie welcome, we're all paddling away here in the same boat, CCCS/Payplan will handle all the stuff to creditors so don't worry. I don't think they normally lump stuff together, just leave them seperate and treat them as individual accounts. Actually, creditors are so disorganised, they probably don't realise that you have 3!!! Keep posting and we've got great people on here to help. (read the posts above, fantastic!)
True what a lovely wee doggle!!!! love him to bits, you don't half scrub up well too..................More than Two Years in
Doing it the Niddy way:j:j:j0
