This is my first time on the site and I have spent ages trying to figure out how to post so hopefully someone will pick this up. I am probably writing in the wrong place but have no idea how to do this.

I recieved on the 8th March two penalty charges saying the cost of each was 168.16 from Marston baliffs the date of the penalties is april 2007 and June 2007. I contacted Marston to find out what these related to and why we had suddenly been sent a letter after 3 years giving up 7 days to pay and asking for it to be put on hold until these questions were answered.

Yesterday a baliff turned up at my door and said he now wanted £651.13 and that the reason it had taken so long was that Hammersmith and Fulham were behind with their admin and insisted he would take nothing other than the £651.13. I am on maternity leave and my partner is unemployed the tickets are in my partners name and he is not on morgage does not own car or anything else.

Can you please advise as to what we can do. I can't understand why we have had just one letter and no explanation in 3 years and then £315 added on. I don't know what to do now. Please help.

    hi Loopylou,

You'd be better of posting this in the main debtfree wannabe forum as a new thread.

Call citizens advice they will be able to advise you on your next step.

    Hi guys,

Well, as of this morning (well 5pm yesterday really) I am unemployed. Obviously not ideal. My agency has nothing else at the minute, and none of the others seem to either, judging by the lack of beating down my door going on!

On the plus side, my phone has been strangely quiet so far today. Maybe they got the letter from the CCCS this morning, I don't know, but I was getting around 12 missed calls a day since I last posted, starting at 8.30ish, and today nothing! Let's hope it lasts, eh.

To the person who was looking for flexible work, sorry, can't remember user name, can you touch type? The transcription company I work for in my spare time is usually looking for people. You need to be a fast accurate typist with a good idea to do transcription work, as much of the work is transcribing group interviews, and you need to be able to distinguish between different voices. But I make at least minimum wage on it. You'd need to register as self employed though, don't know if that puts you off! I can generally earn about £150 a month doing that on top of my (now non-existent) day job, it's very flexible though.

    Hi Raquela!

It wasn't me asking about the flexible working, but I would be interested in doing transcription work. Could you let me have some details please?

    Thank you xxx

  • Hi all

Hope the dodgy backs are on the right track for mending. Poor things x

Tedsd, know what you mean about postal orders. I was soooooooooooo embarassed buying them, bought them for £10 value each to try to ditch the dmp stigma. lol. Probably fooled no one. Still going from feeling sick as a dog most of the time to a degree of hopefulness that one day I just may be rid of all this rubbish. Sorta wished I'd pushed for a start date of May rather than June as I appear to have all in order, opened account, dmp said yes although welcome pack not sent yet but maybe as I asked for June start date to give me chance to sort a big car bill out. Work have confirmed they willl pay salary into new account, phew.

Btw the wacko biscuits taste just like rockys. Also pleased to report Aldi's spirits type drinks do not taste any less inferior than the real stuff, bargain.

Does anyone have experience of dealing with work expenses on a DMP? I get paid a perol allowance but am expected to keep my car road worthy for work so should use this extra to invest in the car and save for a replacement. Traditionally I just used the variable amounts of money to pay against cards but this is meant to be a new start and budgetting and all that so need to think about where am going to store the money etc. Any advice welcome.

Really sorry to hear about your work situation. Hope the situation improves very soon for you. Was it you that also boosted about other ways to boost income? Saw it somewhere and can't recall. I looked into mystery shopping once, not sure if I just had a bad experience but they just seemed to want to know everything about me and offer nothing! Keen to look at other ways but would need something flexible enough to fit in with the day job. Am I asking too much?

Also need to check out where the freebies and competitions are. anyone know?
