Hello, well we've survived the 'hike'...if I still had the CCs we'd all be kitted out in the gear by now, hiking boots, rucksack, compass :rotfl:... no Are we nearly there now Mama, but trailing a mile behind......

HH - had me in stitches with your Aldi experience, that shop never fails to entertain... and your verdict on the wackos is....??

    Chocolates - Great News!

Albie - hope the party was good, loving the men in black.:rotfl:

Skintoflinto - What's the trolley situation at Netto?

Well, I was nursing my blisters (exageration) last night and watching Britains Got Talent, loved the Cruise guy, made me giggle.. really enjoying it and then it came to the Win Tickets to the Live Show plus £1000
part and  it was sponsored by a favourite creditor, Littlewoods.com  Talk about an evening spoiler..!!

Still think we should have got together and entered as Off our Trolleys! :D

The trolleys are OK in Netto & the staff are very friendly :D. Always nice fresh fruit & veg in ours.
Had a good day - just chilling now. Weekend gone far too fast but nothing new there!
Still no phone calls today - so still good times :j.
    Debt = HUGE!:eek: LBM March 2010:idea:

We are now proud to be dealing with our debt!!
  • Hi all
its a year since I was last on here and things were going not too bad but last June my hubby was laid off with no work in the building trade and things have become gradually worse!!!
Anyway, I have had 3 accounts passed to debt collection companies now and son't know what to do!!
I have been on CCCS today and had a DMP drawn up but i just need that kick and support to tell me it will be ok!!
I have a good stable job earning a good wage and none of my mortgage or utilities have defaulted....just credit card and 2 catalouges!!!
I know it doesn't sound too bad but in total I owe £25k which was ok when I was woth my ex and we had nearly £4k a month coming in but after divorce and taking on ALL the debts this is the position I am still in 3 years later. I have 2 amazing kids and I don't want them affected by all of this so I wanna do what is best now!
I know my wage should easily keep us...my hubby cannot get JSA as his ex employer had no kept up nat insurance payments and we didn't know and now he has gone bust!!!! ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway....please advise me the best way to go...at the mo it will take 8 years to be debt free but of course if he gets a job I will be able to pay more!!!!
    Thanks in advance!!!
  • Welcome littleclover

What can I say, the DMP was the best thing I ever did, and I wish I had known about it when my debts were £25K!!!!
Speak to the team at CCCS, they are very good and give good advice.
I can't see how your husband would be expected to know that his employer wasn't paying NI, so I would go back to the job shop and ask again, do they expect you to starve?????
There must be something that he is entitled to, I would have thought, don't let these people palm you off because it isn't on their schedule!!

Keep posting and let us know how you get on, we've all been there and got a couple of teeshirts, so here to help.

    Hey littleclover and welcome,

The main thing is your are back on here and want to get the debt down. :T Have you posted a SOA on the main forum you could even do it here we might be able to see if there is anything we can cut back on for you.

Well done for going to the CCCS, what have they advised you to do so far? as already said make sure you have no debt to where your salary/tax credits etc is paid into. A basic account that a lot of people use is co-op.

Do not worry 'THEY CAN'T HAVE WHAT YOU HAVEN'T GOT!!' Let us know a little bit more and we'll see where we can help.

Hi all ...... havent been in touch for a while but have been keeping up to date with your posts. All quiet on my DMP first payment went on 1st April. Still havent heard from BCard contacted CCCS who said they hadnt either but creditors only get in touch when they dont accept. So just hoping thats a good sign. Didnt hear from Halifax at all until statement arrived last week with no interest charges and min payment was the CCCS amount.:j

    Hey Candypop.

Just wanted to mention about BC i have been paying them with the CCCS for 3 months now and still haven't heard a peep/letter/default. I'm keeping stumm though as my statements are coming through with the CCCS payment and amount and no interest charged.

Fingers crossed its the same for you. Also hope you get your shower fixed x

hi tedsd hope your good today, great news re starting the DMP, don't worry about the SOA.

Go mamaj with the veggie patch its great, i grew lettuce, toms and peas last year.

Welcome paddles as said great name for joining this group!
  • Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Littlecover, good on you for contacting CCCS, they are my current heroes; put up the silly questions I dream up and reassure me despite me bringing my debt on myself - in a month they've helped me an awful lot and I can't put into words how much its changed things for me, sure I still have my worries but knowing they are there and on my side is a massive boost.
Plus, the guys on here help lots, I'm a thread lurker, but its also good to know I'm not the only one out there on a debt island - though that sounds like I'm taking pleasure from others being in the same boat - I'm not, its the reassurance that anyone can find themselves in a a similar position.

hmn, haven't explained that too well!!

    Paddles!
  • Evening all, hope you had a nice weekend.
Had a bizarre series of phone calls with MBNA yesterday. They called in the morning leaving a message to call them back "very urgently".
So I did and spoke to a chap who explained "Oh, don't worry, that's just our collections department, they all a law unto themselves".
He went on to explain that I should ignore them and not to worry as my situation is well documented with them. I asked him why you don't communicate with each other, he laughed and reiterated for me not to worry and that was that.
Extraordinary really, don't know if anyone has had anything similar? PP

    Paddle No. 5.
    Debt at DMP start (May 1st '10) £54.9k, as of 1st Oct '11 £33.2k. 40% cleared.
    (3 F & Fs down, 5 to go!) :T
  • I'm pretty good Ted, hope you are well.
Only a week or so until DMP starts, to be fair the vast majority of my creditors have been very supportive, although I have tried to best to keep them informed.
I think that might be the key to an easier pre DMP couple of months or maybe I've just been lucky?
