It is probably my fault since they might not have had any other phone number. Supposedly they are not allowed to talk about "what" they are phoning about.

Hiya
As far as I can see there are 2 issues.
No matter who was calling you (regardless of money issues etc) they are not allowed to give personal information about you. This is in breach of data protection act and will get them in deep water with information comissioner etc
Secondly you have to respond to creditors. But, you dont have to answer their calls, yu can ask that they only deal with you in writting.
Hope that helps

Happy Friday everyone!
Had v strange letter from Egg today! They were just reminding me of when my direct debt is due and if I happen to be experiencing payment problems to call their collections dept. They then enclosed a list of organisations which could help me, cccs, payplan etc. Not sure why they're being so proactively "nice"?? Mmmmmmm.. I haven't even missed a payment with them?
Called barclays bank to see if I could get them to remove the late payment from my file as was only 8 days late in Feb. The girl was v snotty with me and said no and it's there so other companies could assess my file.. Thought I'd try it on anyway:0) as she was from snottsville, I asked her for the address to write to for a copy of my cca. She said "I should have kept the original and why didn't I have it?" I said they should still be able to supply a copy and can I have the address to write to. She said why do I want it! I said "give me the address please!!" then she put me on hold for 10 mins and I hung up and called again. This time lady was much better and eventually told me to write to their head office....she said "we dint do those sort of flexible loans anymore indact since 2003....you can prob guess what I'm thinking but I am a v ethical person, normally :0) :0)Debt £22k (ish):eek:LBM April 2010DFD - work in progressPaddle no. 26"whether you think you can or you can't, your probably right"0 -

Hi all and welcome to the newbies
Seems we've got a mixed bag of good and bad today. It always amazes me how different it can be for everyone, even the same creditors seem to have no concensus when it comes to dealing with DMPs. They're all useless me thinks :rotfl:
Managed to get to the library today and got my copy of slummy mummy... now just need to find the time to read it!
Anyone seen true recently... or have I missed her posts.
Mama hows the potty/talking training going? DDs back to nusery on monday :j I think we both need to time apart, although she did surprise me with a bunch of daffs today and wouldnt go to bed until shed given them to me (courtesy of her day at grandmas!) so sweet
Gabs I know what you mean, I think Ive just caught up on the lastest mad thoughts, then realise they've all gone potty over something else :rotfl:Keeps you smiling though
Hope everyone has a brill weekend, watch out for the ashDebt at LBM - £11,505Debt 2011 = [STRIKE]8K[/STRIKE] £7760 - DF in July 2013DMP Paddle no. 1 Sealed Pot No. 1375Grocery Challenge Aug £418.31/£450 Sept £ /£4500 -
Had a letter from MBNA today stating that they had received an income and expenditure form from PayPlan and that they appreciated my financial difficulty therefore they have placed my account on a severe hardship programme which means all late/over limit fees/interest will be suspended. They mention setting up a standing order with them but i already pay them though PayPlan.
MBNA are showing as one of the creditors who rejected my offer in my PayPlan creditor details. Weird!
Is this good news or not?Paddle number 22
DMP Start April 6th 20100 -
Hi all,
Welcome KAt81 your in the right place as your starting your DMP. loads of help on here. As you have explained to you yes once you start your DMP it is important to have no financial links to the bank that your salary/tax credits get paid into, this includes overdrafts/CC. All your debt should be put into the DMP. It really is great when you start as you actually have mooney left in your account its a great feeling most people will agree. Also if you have not started your DMP yet some people send token payments to start with it can also give a months breathing space to get a little balance in your account for emergencies or if your car is due a MOT or something. Hope this helps good luck we're all here!:T
Hey Skintoflinto welcome along. Glad your getting along ok. Fingers crossed your creditors come good and accept for you. Well done for your LBM.:T
Hey Jeddy, i had a similar thing with RBS they sent a letter not accepting to the CCCS but they sent me a letter sayign they had ummmmmmmmmm i thought so i just rung them and i was told the plan had been accpeted for a year. it might just be a computer blerrrrrr letter being sent. Try not worry. I'm with MBNA/virgin too and on they're hardship thingy. They are v helpful they even changed my payment date on the statements because they had it as 15th and CCCS pay on the 25th. It'll be fine
Hope you all have a fafb weekeend and the sun is shining where you are minus a volcanic ash cloud. Maybe we could explode a volcano on the bank or put them in the middle of it!!:D

I have a total debt of around 1.4k, a disposal income of 1.2k per month after bills have been payed, have never missed a payment in my life, and the other day got a letter from my CC company asking me to ring urgently to discuss any problems I may have.
As you may imagine I panicked, rung up and the guy on the other end of the phone who said 'I have no idea what they are talking about' - I can only imagine that these letters are computer generated0 -

AB - Right with you on the Egg stuff. Unbelievably, I still had around 30k of 'available credit' left a couple of weeks ago. However I have been considerably 'rate jacked' in the last few months. I applied for a consolidation loan which was refused. Had been mulling DMP option for a few weeks and so decided to go for it. Almost as soon as I hit send I received loadsa letters reducing my limits from a number of ccs that are not connected to the bank I applied for the loan with. The timing of this leaves me confident it was the consolidation application rather than the dmp application that was the trigger for the flurry of letters. As PDD says they are only going to look after themselves so I guess they could be targetting certain accounts and doing regular redit searches even if you are upto date.
The Barclays call could be very telling. One to keep in reserve incase you consider exploring if they are not reasonable at negotiating DMP. Well done you on keeping your cool and being assertive, we know where to come for lessons now!:T
Nataz, ah that was sweet with the daffodils:j
Lovely day here, have work to do but also got my first trip to Aldi to look forward to. Hope you all have a good day

Hi BLT, our posts crossed. They quite possibly are randomly selected, am just very paranoid this past few weeks!
Jeddy it sounds like a positive step to me even if they are not on with your dmp just yet if they have accepted your financial hardship it seems a good sign they will be onboard soon
