Barstewards. Automated or not someone has to be accountable for the mare they are putting you through.
Have you considered unplugging the phone for your sanity?
I was terrified about calls at the start. I don't get them now - I think I became a bit of a problem for them when I started popping the phone by the tv and just letting it cost them and waste time. The other tactic I had was to say ooohhh hello I'm so glad you've rang. What are you going to do to help me with the financial nightmare I am experiencing as a result of the exorbitant interest charges you having been taking from me? Can you take me through the steps you have gone through in your company since you received my letter? Is that the best you can do? Surely you can reduce the interest further or better still seeing as you earn so much profit and you know I'm on a DMP then stop altogether? When are you going to get back to me by? Shall I call you again in an hour to see what the progress has been? Can you borrow from one of your sister companies to help me? I .e completely turn the tables on them. Oh what fun.
Sorry Ellie, not meaning to be flippant and I can recall when I was a complete wreck and though I was going to be spending 4 years living in my bedroom with a dimlight on. Information is power to you. As PDD would say they have your money but they can't have your life. They rely on the sensitive side and go for the jugglar, well don't let em have it, you are worth so much more.
Most CCCS are very helpful but there are a few that seem to resent the DMP route and tell you youve no rights to challenge etc and one in particular is very very patronising. If I ever get her now I make an excuse and say I'll call back later.
You are not running away, you are paying your debts back. They need to recognise that and that you have basic human rights.
Lift a glass of something and see the weekend in Ellie, infact as a mark of camaraderie I think we should all have one for you. If it doesn't look better next week I'll come over and answer that darn phone for you.
Have another hug sweetie, you deserve it after what you've had :grouphug:

Go HH, you've got it!!! By God she's definitely got it!!!

Morning All,
Well, we have rung Mercers this morning:eek: I explained our position and that CCCS were dealing with our DMP (they said they had not been informed of this??) Anyway, I went through our I&E with them and they have accepted reduced payment and will stop all phonecalls and threats:)
Just want to say thank you to you all for your support and advice with this. Without you I would not have had the nerve to ring and certainly would not have known my rights:T

Well done Ellie. Don't forget you have authorised CCCS to deal with them for you so you don't even need to spend the time going through I&E with them as they should get this from CCCS. Just a wee word of caution I think it always best to get them to deal with CCCS as there may be transcription errors and they may start to challenge you too. Onwards and upwards.
How's everyone doing with the weather? I'm cleaning furiously so good to know what is and isn't in the cupbaords. Been great for stacking up NSDs too!

WELL DONE ELLIE!
Just posted on the other thread aswell. Brilliant news.
I think we need a 'sticky' on things to say on the phone.
In brief after nearly 5 months our Nat West OD is now showing as 'accepted' on Justabank:T
Had a strange moment when Triton rang asking for me (in person not automated this time) I braced myself Then in the next breath apoligised really politely for bothering me as they could see they had already spoken to me!! ( I rang them when they first wrote) Bet that doesn't happen often.:D
There is ominous silence as far as the large loan with Nat West is concerned. We know its with Triton. BUT PDD i'm not going to go on about it as I'm learning that will do no good.:o
Feeling quite happy on the whole as I know anything I buy for Christmas will be paid for up front and its a great feeling.:)DMP mutual support member 3970 -
Well i have returned after a fairly tumultuous few weeks.
DMP is up and running (hurrah) and first payment due out on the 10th of this month. Had a letter from MBNA (virgin money) saying that they are not going to accept the lower payment but will stop all charges and interest. This however will not stop the account going into default but to carry on the lower amounts... very confusing. Have been warned that they may refer to 3rd party for collection at some point (oooh yippee, ha ha).
Nothing at all from Santander as of yet or Mint or Natwest but hats off to MBNA for getting in there swiftish.
On a much happier (sort of) note i turned 40 on 29th November and was given 80 quids worth of vouchers from work colleagues to treat myself as they know that i am in this mess. I actually felt guilty spending them. WOW, not that long ago i would have spent the 80 quid and put another 100 on the credit card. So maybe i have finally woken up hee hee.
Massive thanks to all of you for the advice and support. Still terrified of the next few weeks but what will be will be and worrying about this is much better than worrying about how i am going to pay for food, gas etc etc.

I thought that, in fact i'm sure, that if a DCA says "we are coming round" and you write back and say "well actually your not because I refuse you permission to do so" then they have to abide by that instruction.
Anyway, if they did turn up just open the door and then say goodbye and close it again. End of story really.
For some reason DCA's seem to have stepped up the nastyness. Do you think its because we are approaching Christmas and they think we are more amenable to the threats?
I received a strange letter from Robinson Way today asking if I was Eyeopener or not. Odd because all my creditors know exactly who I am.
Ho hum.

What's it to them whether you're Eyeopener or not? None of their business. Its not as if you've come on here laughing about how you're fooling them while spending your wads!!! Lets face it - none of us would be here unless we needed the support to get through the emotional abuse they put us through.
I think we should all look forward to Christmas and thank our lucky stars that there's no big bill afterwards. This is actually the first year that everything so far has been paid for up front. I've had to reduce my pressie's a bit but then, I think I've put more thought and effort into them and have been happy to spend less.Debt at DMP start (1st Oct 10) £30,838k. Debt of DMP as of 11th May 12 £12,170k

Hi everyone we need some advice please.
Inspired by Ellie I told OH to ring Triton today and find out what was going on as we had heard about the OD but not the Loan.
Anyway apparently they have combined the two and frozen interest which is absolutley fantastic. Payplan hadn't heard about this so OH asked them to write to them to confirm this. OH said they were great on the phone.
Out of the blue they offered him a f&f which is not much more than half of what we owe them (OD & loan combined). We can't believe it although payplan said this does happen quite often?
The thought of saving nearly £14000 is amazing although obviously we don't have that money!
The dilemna is that there is an outside possibility of borrowing it from a relative although it would be diffficult to ask.
Payplan said if we did that and paid them back at the same rate as we are paying the loan & OD it would stillshow as an outgoing on our DMP although not to Nat West.
We have two other creditors. The biggest has lumped all the interest on anyway so we are paying them nearly the full amount each month anyway. BUT they are also owned by Nat West so if we accepted the f&f would they then start hounding us?
The other is £4000 and have stopped interest but not sure what they would think about it.
Sorry to sound confused but this has taken us by surprise. I am ecstatic that they have said they have stopped interest but am acutely aware that that could change in the future and as house owners this could have greater implications which is why the f&f sounds so tempting.
Would not relish asking the relative though.:o
Please can I have all your wordly opinions on this?
Many thanksXDMP mutual support member 3970 -
Well done Loubylou on ringing up - not sure what to do about your dilemma though.
Looks like we are all getting that bit braver as time goes by and it's paying off:)

Had a similar offer from BoS, half the amount. Would go for it definitely if I had access to the money or could borrow it from a relative. So if you feel comfortable to ask you relative then I would, but up to you of course. PPLBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.
