  • Afternoon all, totally agree with Dopey.
All mine have stopped interest (apart from BoS loan which is front loaded).
Only because I totally refused to accept anything otherwise.
Hassle them, keep hassling them, threaten them with the FSO and keep going until they relent, it may take time but they will eventually.
I also went through two CCs internal complaints dept which helped a lot. PP

did you use any templates to send to them to stop intrest? if so i dont suppose u have a link do u ? i have 2 that have stopped intrest and thats with barclays, its just natwest still charging,

glad most have stopped intrest with you tho, :)
  • morning Guys

Louby why are you still worrying about !!!!ing off creditors? You are doing your best to pay the pesky money back, make them pay fair or send them all a CCA request cos that shuts them up pronto, specially if its an old account, cos they know that that is a different ballgame.

OK rant finished, be care out there and chill (that should be the easy bit to-day).
PDD you always make me smile and give me strength. Unfortunately we reloaned only a year or so ago so have no old debts. Don't have the credit agreements any more though so should we ask anyway?

Had another standard 'pay us our money or else' letter each from Triton. Will write again but have a new ironing customer to do tonight. I'm only on here as a diversion from the ironing.

Ellie reading your post made me realise that our few phone calls are nothing comapred to what your'e getting. Tell them to stop phoning and pay what the phone calls would cost off your debts!

Not much snow here today although its been coming down not laying.

  • Hi Louby

It doesn't matter for UE if you have the agreements, its if the creditors have them that matters. It only works for those that you took out before 2007, anything after that is covered by different case law.

Glad I make you smile, now get on with the ironing, do you want to do mine as well?????

  • So when it comes to complaining about the interest what did you do? I take it you send the standard stop it letter? But what comes after that

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick but I cant remember your story PDD and to be honest I'm still way to timid when it comes to complaining to banks, How's the UE going too?
  • Hi all, I have used the template letter to write to Mercers complaining about the number of phonecalls OH is receiving each day. Today when I have got home from work, he has another letter from Mercers offering to "help" if we send 2 payments they will pay the third. The other day it was pay 2 and they will pay 2???

Again they are threatening to send round a debt collector to the house to obtain payment??? All if's and maybe's

The letter reads as if we are ignoring them and not paying anything but this is not true. I have written to them, CCCS have been in contact with them and we are paying reduced amounts according to our DMP.

Is this just a tactic to wear us down?

The odd thing is that both myself and OH had Barclaycards and on mine they stopped interest straightaway and accepted reduced payments??

Thanks again for all your comments and advice, they are really appreciated. Without you all I'm sure I would of crumbled under the bombardment that we are receiving at the moment:T

Afraid so, am just concerned as I have 4 kids (3 below 7) and a don't want my better half stressed with all the UE stuff.

I didn't use any templates, just phoned and phoned and phoned until they got sick of me I think. At one stage in July/Aug I was on the phone to them everyday for about 20 days.
I was very 'difficult' on the phone, it was quite stressful but worth it, especially when my £700 each month goes straight off my debts.
Mikon has loads of templates, hopefully he'll be along to help.
Other than that, all I can advise is keep hassling and you will get their in the end and as Dopey will tell you, they don't know what to to do when you stick up for yourself. PP

Thats really interesting. Would be really interested to have a flavour of some of the conversations you had. I would also like to be proactive although phone calls are a bit out of my comfort zone. Mind you the bulk of the debt is in OH's name so it'd be him:D

When PO were piling lat payment charges I sent an adaptation of the Mikon letter to everyone of any importance at PO/ bank of Ireland complaining. They didn't admit anything but did stop interest and as a 'gesture of good will' refunded the late payment charges.

However as PDD will confirm I am more scared of Nat West .:o
