  • Thanks for your advice PP. Been thinking about it all evening. Not sure yet if its possible and it would't be possible to keep going back to this relative so want to make the right decision.

It was a bolt out of the blue as hadn't even considered f&fs at this stage of the DMP so trying to get our heads round it.

Is it possible to approach your relative in a sensitive manner, explaining your situation and getting the lump sum from them to pay off Natwest by agreeing to pay them exactly the same amount of money you were paying Natwest weekly, monthly, whatever? If they were prepared to help you in this way, then perhaps they would be prepared to indicate that this was a lump sum gratis to Payplan as though it was a free gift to you? That way there could be perhaps no comeback from Payplan or the other creditors but in the meantime you have a private arrangement with your relative?

May not be possible just trying to think what I might try in your situation.
    Debt at DMP start (1st Oct 10) £30,838k :(. Debt of DMP as of 11th May 12 £12,170k :o.
  • Thanks M.
I would def intend to pay it back at the same rate as we are paying Nat West but then if it was a gift I wouldn't be able to show it as an outgoing or am I just being a bit thick?

We're just letting it all sink in really after all this was done verbally we have nothing in writing not even confirmation that they are stopping interest yet.

A good dilemna to have I know.

You know so far I am actually enjoying doing Christmas on a budget. Is that strange? Everything I have bought is ours. It may not be anywhere near as much as normal but so what its all paid for so won't have that sinking feeling 2 days after Christmas.

  • Got in from work today and a Final demand letter from HSBC was sitting on the mat. Pay £5,770.68 in 18 days or else. Yeah! like that is going to happen, the 68p might be do able :rotfl:

So hopefully it will get passed on, it was the only one saying "pending" on my Pay Plan account.

Love how they make sure these letters arrive on a weekend :T

  • Wow, blimey, Snakes alive, etc, etc.......................Got letter from Opus today, have taken over from Citi (£3k balance) so rang them up expecting to have to go throught he whole Payplan thing, can't you pay more, etc, etc.

Anyway, to my astonishment I was transferred to another dept to be told that the account is 'charged off'.
I enquired as to what this means and was told we won't be requesting payments on the debt, "Is it written off" I asked in astonishment. "We will not be pursuiong the debt" he said. "What shall I tell Payplan" I ask, "Tell them the debt is charged off"", he said.
He then we we have written you to explain and that was that. Anyone else had this from Opus?
I am still in shock??? PP

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, thought this was too good to be true, just called them again as it all seemed far fetched.
This time was told it has been charged off,but you just keep paying thru Payplan.
Had a go at them for giving mixed messages, they apologised profusely and that was that.
Be careful with Opus could be the message here guys!!!! PP

    Morning everybody,

I got the usual weekend bad news letter yesterday, why Saturdays with these people? DO they only send the office boy to the Post Office once a week now, on a friday.

Anyway, as usual I digress. Santander Credit Cards have defaulted me so i only need barclaycard to join the merry throng and that would be the full set.

I still haven't had a follow up letter from Robinson Way so i don't know which of the evil ones has passed me to them, I think its Santander CC as the default and the letter from Robinson are suspiciously close together. Well, I will deal with that as and when.

Having hit one target this month, under £20k, I will hit another in January, below £19k and maybe, depending on how CCCS pro-rate my payments maybe the last of the PayDay loans may be gone.

So things are going quite well. Ups and downs and roundabouts but we are happily skipping forward into a new year and just a bit closer to that Debt Free Day.

  • Has anyone ever had to miss a payment to CCCS? had a bit of a emergency here over the last few days which has left me totally skint. I know people have had to miss payments before and I was just wondering what happens, do you still make a smaller payment to CCCS? I'll be ringing them tomorrow but have got myself all worked up over things here.
  • Hi NewB,

Hope your emergency wasn't too bad, what a pain right before xmas.

I have read about it a few times. Prob best to give CCCS a quick call tm and see what they say i'm 99% sure that it is ok you pay them a £1, you send a letter or call saying its a one off and you'll be back on board next month.

    I'm sure you'll be fine.

Let us know how you get on. x
