Hello everyone, hope you haven't all forgotten me!!!! I am a very bad paddler. Sorry.

To be honest things have been running smoothly for me so I am just getting on with things and enjoying life again and trying not to dwell on the whole situation. (hope Im not being too laid back about it all).

Anyway just wanted to ask everyones opinion, got a call from CITI who claim they still never got any info from cccs, (funny that they were sent it twice and everyone else got it 1st time) anyway they then told me they could accept a payment of £24 a month for the next 5 years and then they would write off the remaining debt after that time, has anyone else been offered this and what did you do or can anyone give me some advice?????

Thanks hope you are all well and thing are good for you all.

I'd get this in writing if I were you, especially the write off of the remaining debt. If they will confirm in writing then I would approach CCCS, if they won't put it in writing then, in my humble opinion, its not worth considering. Because in 5 years time they will not write the debt off, the conversation you have had will be denied by which ever debt collecting desperado you speak to.

    Morning Paddlers

Gabs I hope you get a good outcome.

Louise good luck with the sod off letters, send them recorded delivery. I said things lke "I've been asked to get your specific details so that everything can be traced, so it's Saturday 23rd, 0251 hours and you are? Soon stopped.

Teds well done on the house insurance. Thanks for asking about my review. Went fine thanks, worry over for now. 6th payment due next week, that 14.28% for me. Keep trying to celebrate every number going in the right direction, want to get to 20%s, each time I go down 100 or to next 1000 on a card etc. Great feeling to give a wee hug each time. Any other tips on positivity welcomed.

Louise you will pass another significant step by the end of next week, yippee.

Dodgy group hugs to all :grouphug:

    Hello AndyD,

glad things have been goiing ok for you.

I think you need to speak to CCCS as depending on how much you are paying now, it may mean that your creditors aren't being treated equally and jeapordise your DMP.

All that said, if CCCS say go ahead, then I agree, make sure it is in writing - banks don't give away anything for nothing....

Have a good weekend All - am proud to say I saved up for and paid my annual contents insurance in cash today :j

Hi Andy your not forgotten glad your still paddling away, as said before gain anything in writing as proof.

    Hi Louise,

Hope your looking forward to that 1st payment going out once you get a few of them under your belt you'll feel much happier.

Try not to worry about xmas, i don't have any kiddies and i'm sure it must be hard maybe the family could give you a month off, or come to an agreement just to spend £10 on each other or only pressies for the kids? Fingers crossed you get the bonus. Even if you don't at least you'll know that you won't be adding to your debt this xmas and your paying it off.

fingers crossed MBNA stop calling, when i called them i managed to find a number that you call if your in financial hardship and spoke to a really helpful lady who put the account on hold and stopped the calls. i'll try and find it. I know they say not to call but if you get put through to the right people and say straight away your with CCCS you should be ok.

What happens if I cannot make my minimum payment? Answer: We can all face unexpected changes in life. Becoming ill or losing a job are just two things which can cause money problems.

At MBNA, we recognise the stress that debt can cause, so we’ve come up with a simple 3-step plan to help. And the sooner you start, the sooner you could get back on your feet.

We’re here to guide you through this process every step of the way, so if you need a free and confidential discussion just call 0800 028 0690 Monday - Thursday 9am - 9pm, Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturday 9am - 12pm

    Good luck sweetie x
  • thanks so much guys for your help i will use one of those letters they are better than the last one i sent!
if that fails i will call the number above thank you, i get very nervous making calls and will probably say the wrong thing.

my 3 are young and still believe in santa claus and will no doubt have lists as long as their arms lol however i really am looking forward to not having the debt cloud of doom hanging over us in january this year, have been looking at the boots 3 for 2 toys to save some cash.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY PDD!!

Would have bought you a present but b*******s Nat West have sent default notices shortly followed by a £60 charge so a bit short this month!

    Enjoy the aperitifs:)

Good luck Louise. I agree its a total life style change. I like it actually and if it wasn't for the post i'd be a lot happier.

Don't Know if I feel better or worse, just spent the last three hours photocopying all my debts to send in to CSSS for my DMP.
Didn't realize how many there were !:(
But it's done now, and then the first people I tell is a bunch of strangers, probably be the only people I'll tell, but wanted/needed to tell someone! It's a lot to carry round on your own and I know people on here have been where I am now. I suppose I want people to tell me things will get better.
    Thanks for listening!
