Hi Albie, glad you found your way over here...Welcome!
Not sure what to advise, guess it depends on which is worse for you in the long term... still having a lot of debt and just about maintaining it or being debt free eventually and then being able to get a mortgage.. not sure if a CCJ is worse than a default when it comes to it, it's still stuck on your file for 6 years...
Will you guys correct me if am wrong on that info?
Whichever you decide, we are here to support you either way!
ps how are you in theme parks and can you park an Aldi trolley?:D
Oooh is that deep, kinda like I'm going on a debt rollocoaster ride in an Aldi trolly with a big bar of Sainsburys savers choc (think its 27p!)
Thank you v much for your support and advice. Its definately given me food for thought and I will be back to share with you lovely people what I decide:)Debt £22k (ish):eek:LBM April 2010DFD - work in progressPaddle no. 26"whether you think you can or you can't, your probably right"0 -

If after 6 months or so a creditor or two is still charging interest then maybe...................
Hey PDD,
I have read quite a bit into the CCAing route, its not cast iron by the looks of it can reck your DMP. There is thread run by Darkconvict (the oracle) which explains it.
Like you say maybe after 6 months you could have a look it. I may have got my wires crossed but isn't it to do with unenforceability:eek:(big word) as well.
Hope your all good otherwise0 -
Aaargh! Just checked PayPlan account and all offers are still pending but MBNA have rejected
Stick with it Jeddy they'll come round. Have you thought about sending a letter requesting they stop interest etc. There is a letter i used on national debtline worked for me. Also if they don't accept i assume Payplan (i'm with CCCS) pay them anyway? If the worst comes to the worst they'll default you then it gets passed to a DCA and then the interest etc will stop. A paiin but you'll get there:)
Good luck0 -

Welcome Chrisblue
Any thing you need help with on here. give us a shout0 -
Thanks PDD & Ted, you've really helped put my mind at rest x
Not sure why I was in such a state about it last night, was on the verge of tears and didn't sleep very well
But you're right, I think I'll talk to CCCS about Nationwide today as that's the one that's really worried me. Capital One, I know from reading on here they're nightmare! I guess once they receive first payment at the end of April, it'll all settle down...hopefully.
Thank again guys, you really are life savers! :A:A
Hope you all have a good Tuesday xPaddle No 16

Morning All
Vic you OK? Hope you have a bertter day to-day.
Albie, glad you found us, its a decision only you can take, do you need to get a mortgage in the next 6 years? note the word NEED. If only I had known about these options and these boards sooner we wouldn't have been in debt for 20+ years and not struggling to pay it off before we retire. Whatever you decide we're here and if nothing else you will develop a notion for whackos and you will be able to drive an Aldi trolley.............
Well done, LJM one little step etc.........
Wise words Prof, you'll be doing the financial education lessons before you know where you are.................
Not sunny to-day here, have a good day everyoneMore than Two Years in

Hello newbies and old folks
Back to horrid rain here today, typical when I had planned a trip to the garden centre to stock up. Have been out gardening loads and it really helps take your mind of it all. Now my poor babies are drowning
WOW big thanks Tixy so glad someone is out there pointing people our way. I did speak to those in control but havent heard anything back so Im guessing they dont really care where we are. At least theres a signpost for us now.
Vic glad you're feeling better today, sorry I wasnt around last night but the guys seem to have done a good job. Everything always seems better in the morningI think they are just trying to scare you into paying, I had similar letters from BofS and to be honest I just ignored them. They cant come get the money and as long as you are paying your DMP to CCCS thats all you need to worry about. And so what if they are 'disappointed', do you really care what they think. They could get down in their hands and knees but you aint gonna give them another penny, so chin up and have a big wacko on me
I know deciding to tackle you're debts is the hardest thing we'll ever have to take on, its daunting to think that you will lose your credit rating and the stigma of being in debt is still a hugh factor. But from personal experience and from speaking to all you guys I think that its better to jump right in than totter around the edge. Debt only gets bigger. Yes you might be able to stem the flow for a while, but it will get you eventually. TBH I cant wait to say Im debt free and to think that all the money coming in is mine. The relief of not having to give it all away to credit cards and loans is going to be the best feeling ever. I guess what Im trying to say is that you have to choose between debt freedom or debt servitude. Everything else is just an excuse

oooh Nat very wise this morning, but all true words, I like the debt servitude bit, think that's what we've been doing for years, talk about pure dead dopey!!!!More than Two Years in

Thanks Nat, PDD, feeling much better today, I think because I go lots of letters all in one go I panicked...they really can make you feel like !!!! can't they? b:mad:
And Nat, loving your wise words, you're so right. I know the debt is my fault, but I'm doing the best I can to get out of it. It's weird because the ruined credit rating thing is what bothers me the least. I just can't wait for the day I'm debt free and all the money is mineI guess I'm lucky that I'm still only 29 (!) and will hopefully will be debt-free by the time I'm 35
....the only think that worries me, is that I'm sure marriage and babies will pop up in the next 6 years...so I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!
LOVE YOU GUYS XXXPaddle No 16
