Don't worry too much Jeddy, a lot of ours never corresponded at all, just cancelled the interest and took the payments, MBNA didn't accept as such but took the money and cancelled interest, so it may be OK. keep chilled and fingers and toes crossed.

    Thanks PDD and Nanny!

Halifax have just accepted! :j so just waiting on HSBC who I have a cc, a loan and overdraft with. All payments have cleared to my creditors as well.

Still getting the obligatory letters though etc.:D

Keep getting one of those automated calls from HSBC about my old current account. Will phone when I get home as I don't want to use my mobile as it could be expensive!

It's a rollercoaster once you are on it but I feel much much better!

Stick with it Jeddy they'll come round. Have you thought about sending a letter requesting they stop interest etc. There is a letter i used on national debtline worked for me. Also if they don't accept i assume Payplan (i'm with CCCS) pay them anyway? If the worst comes to the worst they'll default you then it gets passed to a DCA and then the interest etc will stop. A paiin but you'll get there:)

    Good luck

    Cheers Gabby!
Yes PayPlan have a set of template letters which you can download for stopping interest, stopping card insurance etc etc..
Just sent one out to cancel my card protection so fingers crossed! If HSBC accept I'll be really happy! PayPlan have paid all my creditors now and the funds have cleared!

We got married on next to no money, and had a baby despite being in debt - it is do-able! It would be nice to own a house but not a necessity, we'll sort that out once the debt's gone. Our son doesn't care whether we rent or own our flat! Plus we get to enjoy living in a gorgeous city - renting it's do-able but we'd never afford to buy here, so when that day comes we're going to have to leave :-(

Thanks Nat, PDD, feeling much better today, I think because I go lots of letters all in one go I panicked...they really can make you feel like !!!! can't they? b:mad:

And Nat, loving your wise words, you're so right. I know the debt is my fault, but I'm doing the best I can to get out of it. It's weird because the ruined credit rating thing is what bothers me the least. I just can't wait for the day I'm debt free and all the money is mine :D I guess I'm lucky that I'm still only 29 (!) and will hopefully will be debt-free by the time I'm 35 :D

....the only think that worries me, is that I'm sure marriage and babies will pop up in the next 6 years...so I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

    LOVE YOU GUYS XXX

Hi VicB yes this is one of my concerns if I go for a DMP I will get a pants credit rating which really only concerns me is that I live in a one bed flat, am 34 yrs old, getting married this September and hubbie is 10 years older so he'll want babies in the next 6 years...where we going to put them. But then it might not happen, depends what nature decides I guess. Plus I only want 1 bubbie! ;)

Yes, we stuck with our current landlord (who is very good) when we moved. We were still in a one-bed flat until just before my son's first birthday (they're supposed to be in your room for the first six months at least anyway), then he found us another property which was two-bedrooms and perfect. Slightly cheaper as well!

you couldn't make it up, he'll be getting a job with a creditor next. Hatton Garden Metals (as recommended by MSE) were very good, guy says he will send a replacement cheque to-day, phew.

Hi Albiebabes, are you renting, if so could you get a bigger house through a private landlord as they don't have the facilities for credit checks...?
Tedsd, no it is a mortaged flat I'm afraid, unless we could rent the flat out and then rent somewhere ourselves??

Hi VicB, glad you're feeling a bit better, let us know how you go on with CCCS.

Re marriage and babies, did you ever read Susan Jeffers Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway...?... 'Whatever Happens, I'll handle it'.....(says me cos I've not opened my post yet!) :D

Couldn't call the CCCS at lunch, so may have to do tomorrow :(

Thanks for the tip Ted, I've added that book to my reading list, will definitely look it up. Actually, talking of books I've just starting reading 'Angel's Game' - follow up to 'Shadow of the Wind'...so far so VERY good. I can't quite remember who it was on here who read it, I know you all loved it though :)

The wedding and babies don't actually scare me, I'd marry my wonderful BF tomorrow if I could (you can throw up now ;))
