Regret calm down first of all, none of it is worth your tears. Read the default notice and I think you will find that it says MAY be taken to court??? This is just the official wording, I think me and OH have around 0 defaults between us, thinking about papering the downstairs loo with them!! Why do you still have money in Natwest is you have debt with them, have you not set up another account to get your money paid into? They can take money because they have the right of offset. Is your OH in the DMP too? If you haven't opened another account, you have to do that asap and move salaries, benefits etc asap. Try not to panic, I know it feels as if its all out of control but once you are up and running it will get better. If CCCS are down, I'm sure they won't be long and they send all the information electronically so when your DMP starts it will be quick. In the meantime, do you have your number from CCCS? You can give that to Natwest and Triton as a stopgap. Most banks will give you 28 days to sort out a DMP and I am sure there is a letter on here somewhere, Ted is our resident thread expert and always knows where to find these things. So try to get in contact with CCCS again this afternoon, and don't answer the phone to Natwest or Triton until you are sorted out. Calm down and don't panic, its only money and we will get you sorted, we all got sorted so why shouldn't you??
Chin up honey, it will be fine.

thankyou pdd, i guess i am just being a bit irrational, but it is such a frightening thing. we have a separate joint account with halifax that our wages go into but my husband has his sole account with natwest. he has gone to set up a new account today. my husband isnt on the dmp just me as i want to clear it all myself as i ggot us in the mess.

do cccs send letters to the creditors or is that electronic too? i was hoping my dmp would start in june but i am wondering if this is not possible now.

thanks for your quick reply, i needed it to see sense

What we do honeey, we've all been there with the sweaty palms and the wanting to run away. I am presuming that you husband is financially linked to you, so that will be why they have frozen his account, though it is a bit harsh. Best thing is for him to get another account. CCCS send everything electronically to the banks so when it happens it is quick. If you've given them all the info they need, I don't see why it can't start in June, have you asked them when you start? Don't blame yourself like that, has your husband never spent on the CCs, gone on holidays, ate in restaurants etc? and being angry at you is not going to help the situation. So let's have a nice calm afternoon, it will get sorted, if you had told me 6 months ago I would be contemplating papering the downstairs loo with defaults, I would have thought you were mad!!! but they can't have what you haven't got, they can't toss you in prison, they can't send round bailiffs until they have a ccj and you have defaulted on that, so nothing dreadful is going to happen this week, and you are going to get sorted out, seemples!!!

now im crying from the relief of reading that! i am so frightened of people coming to the house. the letters are really frightening, i would default on a ccj as i still wouldnt have the money to pay which scares me, but im guessing (and praying) it wouldnt get as far as a ccj because the dmp would step in?

thanks for your kind words, im not sure what lawrence llewellyn bowen would think of defaults as wallpaper!

    Hi Folks,

Just a quick question from me:

I was originally meant to start my DMP on the 1st of June but my circumstances changed a bit in the last month, I got a payrise, nothing major, just £40 more per month and I have also started working on sundays as a favour to a friend who needed a hand in the kitchen of the pub she runs with her boyfriend.

I also got landed with some hefty household bills that needed paying at the time and added to being very busy working the two jobs, I didn't have time to get everything in place with CCCS to start the DMP on time.

So my question is this, seeing as my finances have changed, should I stick to the original agreed DMP or should I do another Debt Remedy including the new income figures(bearing in mind that the sunday work is by no means a guaranteed and prolonged source of income) and hope that a new DMP can be drawn up to start on the 1st of July?

As a sub-question: Will my creditors who have been informed of my entering a DMP on 1st of June be in any position to act on claming the funds owed more now that my DMP won't start until the 1st of July or will another token payment keep them relatively happy until the DMP starts in earnest?

    thanks.

Hi Paolo, You need to get it all sorted with CCCS. I would imagine that CCCS will not have set up a DD or SO for your first payment to them and you can't get started without this being in place. I don't think your chanages will make much difference in the bigger picture and if your Sunday money is not regular you shouldn't count it.
So no procrastination, get on the phone to CCCS, get it sorted for 1st July and your off and running on the road to being debtfree. Don't forget to send tokens for June though, shows willing.

    cheers PDD,

I've sent tokens for this month and I'm quite happy to send tokens for the month of June as well. I'm just worried that seeing as this last month my creditors have been very quiet since receiving the first token payments and notification of my starting a DMP(I presume this counts as the 30 day 'cooling off' period) that they will start to play hardball if I now tell them that in fact my DMP won't start til the following month.

If you've got your CCCS number and anyone phones, you can just give them the number and tell them that CCCS will be in touch, usually shuts them up until you're organised.

I am feeling very positive to-day, it will be OK!

You're quite a way from a CCJ and it takes time, so you just need to get it sorted and hopefully it will never come to CCJs. But, even if it does, the judge would probably set the payment at your CCCS payment and as long as you paid that regularly, no bailiffs. try not to worry, it will all be sorted. have you tried CCCS again???

Yes their systems are still down, ive got to go back to work now, time to paint on my happy 'nothings the matter' face.

my husband has sent me a text to say he has managed to set up a new account with a different bank so hopefully all will be okay there! just now need to work out how to live on the small amount of money i have left this month but thats the norm now!

    thanks for calming me down.
