Hi all - Need some help with getting my money back from Haven for a shocking 3 night break I have just came back from
See my letter below - I need help on what to add to my letter from a legal point or just some way to make them see I wasn't happy and want my money back.

FAO: John Dunford,
I am writing to complain about the above holiday from which I have just returned with my partner. It was most disappointing for several reasons below;
1. Floor not hovered or cleaned in bathroom, living room or Kitchen.
2. Fire place, bedrooms and living room were not dusted.
3. The window in the double room did not close – there was a 4cm gap.
4. The curtains in the double room did not close and there was a large gap
5. The front door to the caravan did not close properly there was a large gap (I could actually see outside from the gap) and the caravan was cold because of this gap.
6. The kitchen sink was full of toast bits.
7. The fridge was still at 5 degree – even though the cleaners had ticked the sheet to say they had cleaned it and put back to 1 degree.
8. There was a cigarette burn in the living room settee even though I booked a non-smoking caravan.
9. Large white stain on the front inside door of the caravan.
I took photos of these problems – please see below for my photographs.
I straight away contacted the Park reception by phone 3 times and in person to request cleaners. The attitude of the cleaners is disgusting when they came back to clean- they still didn’t fulfil my request. I was told by the Park Manager to let the cleaners in and go and grab something to eat or drink – he didn’t offer me any food or drink voucher.
I am asking for a full refund of £179.99 – I do not want any free upgrade vouchers or apology letter.
I look forward to your reply and receiving a refund of my holiday.
Yours sincerely

you honestly think that deserves a full refund? some people........
now my opinions aside, from a legal standing you have a right to compensation but nowhere near the value you are asking
I suggest you have a hard think about how much these really affected the overall experience
Seek legal advice or speak to cab about small claims procedures if you get nowhere as you do deserve some compensation for loss of enjoyment but expect to be laughed at if you dont reconsider your valuation.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I'd suggest you remove the line that states what you want as it sounds very arrogant (don't take that the wrong way
). See what they offer you (probably £50-100, either cash or most likely in the form of a voucher). If you aren't happy with what they offer, then write back. But be sensible - those problems don't warrant a full refund in my book: 25% back would be reasonable.

What on earth
You were no more than minor inconvenienced by these problems and are not entitled to a full refund. At most a goodwill gesture.
Did you report any of these issues to haven to resolve at the time?0 -

I am writing to complain about the above holiday from which I have just returned with my partner. It was most disappointing for several reasons below;
1. I found the cleanliness of the Caravan was disappointing to say the least; we found that the floors in the bathroom, living room or kitchen had been neither been cleaned or hovered and the fireplaces in the bedrooms and living rooms had not been dusted. In addition to this, on our arrival the kitchen sink was found to be full of toast crumbs and a large white stain was present on the front door.
2. The window in one of the Bedrooms did not close, leaving a 4cm gap; neither did the front door close properly also leaving a gap leaving the caravan cold.
3. In addition to the problems concerning the window in the bedroom, the curtains were not able to shut completely.
4. The fridge was set at 5 C despite the checksheet having been signed to say that it had been cleaned and had been set to 1 C
5 . There was a cigarette burn in the living room settee even though a non-smoking caravan had been booked.
Photographs are attached clearly demonstrating these issues
I also feel my requests to rectify the problems, which I made on several occasions, were handled disappointingly and that the cleaners who responded to said requests failed to rectify the problems.
Given the unhappy experience that I have had at your Park and am asking for a full refund of £179.99 – I do not want any free upgrade vouchers or apology letter.
I look forward to your reply and receiving a refund of my holiday.

Ok out of interest, you have just insinuated to this company that you are not happy with their service and unlikely to go back..........so If I were that company I would refuse your refund because it's not going to help my company as you are a lost causeAlways ask ACAS0
-
Did you seriously expect them to give you a voucher or pay you to leave the van while they cleaned it??
If i had been in your position i would have seen the park manager and asked to be moved and be given and upgrade as a goodwill gesture due to the faults you pointed out. If you still weren't satisfied you could have then asked for a refund.
Your letter sounds arrogant and also you stayed the whole weekend. If it was as bad as you say surely you would have done the above first or gone home early and then demanded a refund.(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )
Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter!0 -
Did you ask to move caravan's ?
We had a terrible caravan at Haven its was a Sun holiday, walls were all punched through, they put us in a top of the range caravan with big LCD tv and central heating and large sofas in the lounge after i complained politely at reception0 -
The fridge complaint is the most pointless complaint I think I've seen. Cilled food by law has to be stored below 8 degrees in a catering business. Normal fridges are exactly the same. 5 degrees is fine! Most fridges will be 4 or 5. At 1 there'll be ice all over the sides and things touching the edges will probably freeze!
Again as everyone else has said you're going to far with that letter. I hope you don't get anything near what you want.0 -
The point is Mr 2010 the tick sheet had been ticked where it said The cleaner has cleaned fridge and set to 1 Degree C - so suck my hair toe0
