I can see there are some people have a chance to buy this

    1) Who are basic in computers and heard iPad little bit fancy about this, if they go and see a one in apple store definitely marketing team will tell many things and make his mind to buy.

    2) Who is having some enough spare cash and fancy about trying new things they would buy

    3) Some people always wants to have all the electronics items iPad also may be one of them.
  • Apparently there's a major fault with them in that many people can't connect to Wi-Fi networks. Which is a bit of a problem considering it's currently the only way to connect them.

I'm no Apple fan (I have PCs & a windows-mobile phone), but I spend a lot of my time travelling and can see that this might appeal to me instead of taking my laptop/netbook with me. I expect that a work-mate will be buying one & will reserve judgemnet until I'll played with one for real, but I am not 100% convinced about it for reasons that have already been gone over in ththi thread (multi-taksing, flash support etc).

I'm sure that in time it will be a great alternative for some people to a netbook, but just like the iPhone, version 1 was seriously limited in functionality. Hopefully the much rumoured iPhone OS4.0 will convince me that iPhone has come of age - and if its features get ported to the iPad, then I might be more convinced

  • Funny.. when it came to the iPhone, there was a massive number of people who fit into the category of people who would want it and use it. It now seems quite a struggle to find a definition of who would want and the use the iPad. I wonder if Apple are trying to create a whole new niche and not just looking for it.

I think they're trying to fill the gap that is 'the computer at home used for web browsing, photos & games but not work stuff'

    Nail and head!

There's a quote out there and I can't remember the exact wording of it, but it goes something like this:
Successful products are ones which people think they don't need, but when they start to use it, they can't think how they managed without it in the first place.

    Mobile Phones, Televisions, Cars.

For as long as people look to the iPad as a replacement netbook or a replacement laptop, of course you will be disappointed. I mean, what really would have been so revolutionary about a touch screen Mac in tablet form?

It needs to be seen in a different way. No, it is not going to appeal to everyone. No, it is never going to replace your laptop. See it for what it is trying to be and maybe, it's potential can be seen.

I'm not trying to defend the device if people are of the opinion it isn't for them. I mean, I don't think it's for me. It does, however, have a certain appeal if you look at it from a different perspective.

It's true, i also like iPhone now after 2 years from first release. But they will have to sort out some problem bluetooth/multitasking/flash player/FM radio activation/Apple SDK on windows platform.

But still i cannot make up my mind for iPad.

You might get your wish for multitasking. I doubt the iPhone or iPad will ever see Flash support though.

And as for the SDK on Windows, as I explained to you before, Xcode is required for iPhone development. Apple are not going to port all the software needed to build Mac OS X applications to Windows, for the rather obvious reason that it would be a total waste of time.

Hmmm apart from all the people developing apps that get sold on their store and generate them revenue....

    Yes, complete waste of time.
