Another trick to make cars smell nice is to put Tumbler Dryer Sheets (cut in two to make them go further) either under the seat or behind the Sun Visor. Replace when smell has gone.

I do many of the things here ...soap, rinse out bottles etc...

I also save coffee jars for rinsing paintbrushes out with

Wipe the car windows with old Bounty kitchen roll after spills (the cheap stuff doesn't last 2 mins whereas you can do more with a Bounty sheet)

and if I have made a cuppa and it has gone cold, I put it in the microwave for a bit then drink it.

(This thread is hilarious in parts but money saving at its best! :D)

Please be careful microwaving liquids and never boil water for a drink in there as it doesn't look like it's boiling and can cause serious scalds.

    Hi

    I
We have economy 7 therefore have cheap electic during the night, quite often in the morning when it is still cheap I boil the kettle with enough water to fill my flask to use during the day for tea without having to re boil the kettle.

I did this for a while, running the washer and dishwasher during the cheap period. I eventually checked and have been told that the electric during the night only supplies the heating and hot water circuits which are seperate from the lights and power.
I dont want to spoil your efforts as I think this economy drive is the greatest, but it may be costing you money if you do things because you think it's cheaper. Hope I was misinformed.
    Good Luck

How long would an open carton of this milk last in the fridge? The reason I ask is I usually end up pouring out an almost full 1 pint carton of milk a week as I only tend to use a little bit for coffee etc. Is it ok to use on cereal etc?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, just never thought of using UHT milk before :)

If your not keen on the taste of UHT try Cravendale milk in plastic bottles with a screw top. We got some today with a 16 day user date on it 30/09/06
We've been using this milk for a year now, and never had any go off.
It's a couple of pence dearer but still much cheaper than throwing it away
  • My old next door neighbour used to hang sanitary towells on the washing line   ...now that has to be taking Moneysaving too far! urghhhhh !
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
  • You can always freeze milk in ice cube trays for coffee if you only use a little at a time.

That's what they used to do in the olden days. My grandmother told me that they were not disposable, merely old terry cloths. Also, like nuns in a nunnery, the 3 women in her household were usually all menstruating at the same time and she said that the back yard had a line full of these things at certain times!
