I found it more DEpressive than progressive, but changing the bedspread or curtains was easy enough - there was always going to be *something* on the walls that would match them, even if it *was* only a foot squareEek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0 -
I've started buying loose tea and using a stainless steel teapot (50p from carboot) It works out much cheaper than teabags
Also, when the right hand rubber glove wears out I turn the left inside out to make another right hand glove until that wears out too
Happy hour spent reading this - thanks!Love living in a village in the country side0 -
I wonder if this would work - rather than buying expensive hand washes - how about refilling the last hand wash you had, with some moisturising cheap bath/shower gel? So much more for your money - and if it's moisturising and cleansing, should do hands too? Slightly watered down so it would come out of the handwash pump easier - would last ages..?MFW #185

Then when you've got two, one legged tights wear them together to make a pair, you may need to turn one inside out to get a right and left leg. Of cause this only works if the two legs are the same colour!! Otherwise you'll look pretty silly. Old tights make good shoe polishers or dusters.
DON'T do this if you are hoping to pull though, unless you are sure they are an extreme moneysaving OS nut and will understand completely
Nanna used to have a mending kit for tights with special nylon threadShe would have been on here now if she were around! She saved on hot water by filling the sink and putting her feet in it instead of filling the bath - very agile she was, and baking potatoes at the side of the fire. Oh and making industrial sized vats of picallilli and pickled onions which made you cry, in jars she got free from the sweet shop.

Should work, but as someone pointed out on the Grabbit board, Tesco are doing antibacterial soap for 27p - unfortunately, my local Tesco still looks, as someone else said about theirs, as if a plague of locusts has descended on that shelf.0 -
Love the site,I have a few tips for you.Firstly if you are having problems with weeds but do not want to use chemicals, use lots of salt in a bucket and boiling water, works great.Secondly rather than useing expensive face/body cream go into 'superdrug' and get yourself a pot of coconut oil[99p] you can use it on your face/body and it is also greeeeeat to condition dry frizzy and over proccessed hair.Lastly not sure if everyone will have one in there area, but there is a site in most towns called 'Freecycle'[you put in the town name next] you can get almost anything you want or get rid of anything you no longer use, for example old furniture/electical items/cars /baby stuff ect/ you name it it will be on there one time or another.0

I use a miniature rolling pin from an old child's baking set to squeeze the last bits out of toothpaste tubes.
When there is only a little bit left in the cereal packet i empty it into the new packet. DH hates this but most of the crumbs go to the bottom of the new packet and you save the large edible bits that way.
Most obseesive money saving habit - when i make a batch of bol sauce I use two tins of tomatoes. I don't use the chopped ones because they are more exoensive but I zap the whole tomatoes in the food processor first. then I pour a little bit of water into one empty tin and swish it around to rinse it then pour it into the second tin and swish that around then finally pour it into the food processor bowl and rinse that. By the time I add it to the pan it is quite tomatoey so I feel I am getting the last bit of goodness out of the tin.OK perhaps you can be too frugal
I love this thread, so many new ideas and the look on my daughters face as she reads it with me is priceless:rotfl:
As for when i make bol sauce i do exactly the same thing LOL it was something my OH first began to do as he loves a deep tomato taste Put i only use one tin and have even resorted to using ketchup when i had no puree to add to the tomatoes and sauce.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Yes it does work fine and most of the time you don't need to dilute the showergels. About handwashes being expensive- Have just discovered that Tesco is selling own brand anti-bacterial handwash (bright blue stuff) for 34p for a 500ml bottle.Works fine and costs 68p per litre !0
