  • You could be half sensible about it. Spend half on a treat - those work shoes you were looking at on Tuesday - and put half towards bills.
That way you will feel righteous for having paid a bill, but also had a little something for yourself. After all, you do work nearly 11 1/2 hours a day and some Saturdays too so sometimes you deserve a treat now and then.;)

Right I have bought myself some work shoes. But I bought them from Matalan online and they were £13.55 inc delivery! Bargain basement! My favourite most comfortablest shoes in the whole wide world were from Matalan and they eventually broke after 4 years so I don't think I'll worry about the quality. Plus because of all the nasty stuff I walk through in the workshop (diesel, oil, petrol, brake fluid, coolant) the soles tend to disintergrate first, I never spend a lot of money on work shoes.

So I bought them, I'm going to go to Mr T's at lunch and buy a few bits off my list as they are on deals until 25th so I can get ahead on the shopping for next month, then I'll see what's left. That all seems quite sensible! :)

Beer for OH in shop and naan bread for last night -£8.69
Work shoes Matalan online - £13.55
Paid Green Thumb lawn treatment - £14.00
Paid the small credit card bill just above minumum (£12 - will make over payments later on in month)
Will go to Mr T's at lunch and buy Gammon joint (On a deal from £7 down to £5)
2 Beef sirloin steaks (bit of a treat) (Down from £8.91 to £6.87)
    3x 2 pk chicken breast fillets ( 3 for £10)
    Total Mr T's - £21.81

    TOTAL SPEND: £70.05

Think this is very good of me?

Well I never! I went to Mr T's and also bought some mince that was reduced from £2.20 for 500g to £1.35. 3 packs of these. So I went a bit over my £21 but....! I tried to pay £20 on my "free money card" and the rest on a normal one and they couldn't do the payment half and half!!!!!!!!!! GRRRR! This is a big super store for crying out loud! So I paid it all on my CC and phoned up just now to pay it and their systems were down! Now I'm really annoyed as I have extra money on my CC that I didn't want! Booo!!!
It's not too much of a problem as it's only £25 and I'll pay it off on Monday but I was just annoyed that it's on there. Grrr.

  • I would have asked them to take half of the shopping off, then run it through as a separate transaction, but then I do have more time for faffing about than you have. And after all, I don't do anything else all day according to your brother!:D

hi, i would have voted for the 50:50 split on spending your money.

strange that Mr T's can't split a payment, i have been doing it a lot lately in Mr A's as i load cash onto a gift card via my union to get a discount but never enough for the whole shopping bill so i have to pay the difference on another card.

I think it was just the girl on the till being dense! And mum, I thought about that afterwards! Not at the time though!

I am up and sat in my living room as I can't really sleep in any more! Although DD and DB are asleep upstairs I am so used to leaving the house at this time I am wide awake. As I am sat here, occasionally I can hear a scurrying/scratching from a visitor somewhere. I keep getting up and looking for it but can't find it anywhere. As I'm typing I think it can hear me!

Yesterday I was given a packet of marshmallows by a colleague, I ate *some* of them and put the rest into a batch of millies cookies - they're not great with marshmallows in, won't recommend them actually! Waste of good marshmallows!

Not being very good on the MSE front. Wednesday evening I got so hungry at work I raided a colleagues drawer and ate her party rings, so I went to buy her some to replace them...and bought myself another packet to eat too! Me and DD pretty much scoffed these on the journey from Mr T's to her nursery! About two miles maximum!!!! Tut tut tut.

DB is going to service my car this morning, following the fiasco from about a month ago. I am going to go to my friends house, which is just up the road. Normally she and I would go into town and have a cuppa and cake, but I can't justify this while feeling guilty about the party rings! And anyway, sometimes it's nice just to have a cuppa in your own living room, I am a big fan of this! So this morning I will try and get some housework done before leaving the house about 8.30. Will put one more load HC on, should have done it last night but was too tired. Have a swish swipe kitchen and bathroom and a tidy and tidy living room etc. Think I'll just nip over to fly lady to get a bit inspired, then maybe I'll get off my a55!

Ohh my scurrying friend is back, think I'll go on the hunt again, happy Saturday everyone!

It could well be the shrew you've evicted from his nice holes in your garden! :rotfl:

Thanks for trying the marshmallow cookies - it means I don't have to waste my packet experimenting.
