So am I :-) Have got lots of photos of her now. She's so lovely and OH loves her as much as I do. She's a real Daddy's girl. I guess I should stop giving updates now, we've sorted the problem and I promise we have one very happy kitty :-)Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0

Told you she was smart and would wind him round her dainty paw easily enough.

*BUMP*
Right, as you all know I took in a cat who had been dumped by her owners. I also promised I would keep an eye on their puppy and this has now compelled me to ask advice again.
It seems these people are totally incapable of looking after animals! On Friday, the pup, who has now turned into a strapping and ferocious dog, escaped from the garden and attacked another dog. The police brought it back and told them that they have to keep the dog under control. They have since complained to all on Facebook that the police left their property and left the gate open and the dog escaped again and tried to attack another dog. Now whether this is true or not I don't know but what I find totally hilarious is that the gate isn't really a gate. Well, it is a gate, but it has no hinges and no latch, it's just a gate leant up against a concrete post.
Their dogs regularly get out and cause havoc. The old dog isn't so bad and at first attacked my dog but has calmed down a bit. The problem is the puppy. He's nasty, very vicious and often attacks passing dogs. I watch it torture the old dog by chasing him, jumping on him and biting him until the old dog bites back. Recently I gave the neighbours some very expensive screws and rawlplugs to repair both their fence and gate and they did nothing about it.
The owner has been spitting feathers about the police but the simple fact is that the puppy is vicious and is eventually going to do some serious harm. The dogs escaping is no one's fault but the neighbours. The owner of the dog that was attacked tried to press charges but the neighbour defended the dog saying that he's only a puppy and knows no better. This dog is now 9 months old and by now he surely should know better. He has only recently started getting violent and I know this because he attacked my dog. My pooch knows how to look after himself but would rather walk away from a fight instead of getting in one! He's a good dog, and I'm proud that he does that! Gratefully, he's insured.
My question is what do I do? The dogs are fighting right at this minute. They are locked out of their house and will be for hours. They are often still locked out at 4 in the morning when neighbours are partying therefore bark and fight for hours on end (drives me and the other neighbours nuts but the council are indifferent to the treatment of the dogs.) The puppy has also figured out how to get onto my yard due to a little plastic hut thing on their side of the wall housing their tumble drier. The wall is over 4 ft tall so if he got over, he couldn't get back!
They're terrible neighbours! Their visitors are on drugs (they proudly announced to our visitors recently that they grow cannabis) and they regularly argue, fight, have their music on until dawn at the weekends and generally don't give a monkeys about anyone's feelings. We're already going down the route of complaining to the council (we own this house and bought it unaware that it was a council house next door. The vendors told us the neighbours were lovely. LIARS!) but as for the animals, I can't keep turning a blind eye. Someone or something is going to get hurt and I won't be able to live with myself knowing I could have prevented it.
Oh, and the dog is a staffy! He isn't neutered, apparently they can't afford it. The dogs aren't insured either so they could no way afford vets treatment if the dog got seriously hurt in a fight.
Sorry to bore you all, but I can't turn a blind eye. I love animals more than I love humans!Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -
I feel for you I really, do. The old saying damed if you do and damed if you dont.
I would have a quiet word with the police, at least they now know about it anyway. As you say some one is going to get hurt, and you wouldnt forgive yourself would you. Even though it should be your neighbours sorting it you know they wont. I really feel for you.
Chris n TJ.RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxxHe is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -
IOF they got him neutered he might calm down a bit, do they work? There are lots of charities that offer low cost neutering would you feel comfortable finding out about them and giving them the info? The poor thing is probably bored, which will be why he's causing aggro. My dog doesn't look for that kind of trouble if she's bored BUT, she'll pick something up that she's not allowed to chew, knowing fine well she'll get attention if she tries to chew it!It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I agree with the bored thing. IME staffs are pretty intelligent and very strong willed. A bit of stimulation and he's likely to chill out a bit.
Agree though that its a very difficult situation re the owners and I'm not sure that I can offer any assistance. Sorry....Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Thank you folks for reading my ramblings!
Right, to answer your questions. Yes they do work. The man works full time, the woman works part time. I have NEVER seen the dogs being taken for walks so I don't doubt that the puppy is bored. He would be a nice dog if he wasn't so vicious. It seems that whether the gate is a real gate or not, it doesn't matter. Just after writing my last post, the dog cleared the fence at the end of the garden and attacked a cat. (I'm really grateful I got Izzy out of there now.) 2 minutes later he got out again and approached 2 little King Charles spaniels from the area. I scared him away from the cat, took him back home and the owner pinned the puppy down on the floor and repeatedly punched him in the head. She said "he's driving me mad. I'm getting rid of him, I can't cope anymore!" I just walked away, fuming! How anyone can treat an animal like that is beyond me.
I don't know what to think of this but if I see just one more incident I know I won't be able to bite my tongue. The neighbourhood animals are safe in the knowledge that I will help them out. The puppy isn't violent towards people, which if he gets a beating like that regularly I'm surprised he isn't scared stiff of humans and attacks whenever he feels threatened but am going to ask OH to get in touch with the police.
I'll be out in the garden all day tomorrow so will be able to keep an eye out!
Oh, and recently someone put an anonymous note through my dooor with names and contact numbers for the council and the dog warden. Still not found out who it was but OH has deduced it is their other next door neighbour! Might go have words with them tomorrow!Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0
