Just report it the RSPCA as the only alternative is to steal the animals which we would lead to you potentially prosecuted. If you take it to a rescue they will scan them and if chipped return them to the owners. So your only alternative is to either watch them suffer or report them to the RSCPA. You could try the Dog Warden but they may just tell you to contact RSCPA. If the animals are as bad as you make out then the RSCPA should take fast action.
Sadly that depends where you are in the country, some branches are excellent some not so. My Noah was a stray reported to the RSPCA several times before CP eventually trapped him ... by which time he'd been out in the February 2009 snow in a condition so poor he was taken to be PTS.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
screamer - good luck with this, they don't sound fit to have any animals, I would ring the RSPCA and tell them all that you have told us... they should act.
Perhaps these people need a wake up call, as it sounds like its not just a case of neglecting the cat a little, through ignorance, but intentional cruely towards the cat, and the dogs sound like there may be elements of neglect. Thanks for your kind comments btw, although I suspect I am often seen as rather a more of a pain in the bum!:D
ETA - you may want to stop feeding the cat, and (or!) let the RSPCA know you are not feeding it, as they may say so long as it is being fed adequately and watered, its basic needs are being met...0 -
I suggest a quick word with the owners, suggesting that if it was OK with them, you would let the cat stay at yours (with lots of placating words about how beautiful she was until the puppy came). Odds are they'll say yes.
Your dog is good with cats because he has already learned his place. It won't take long for him to realise 'oh, you live with us now [goes back to sleep]'. As long as the cat has somewhere she can take herself (up?) and away from dog, like behind the sofa, etc, she will most likely be content with staying downstairs - at first, at any rate.
Your OH will get over it soon enough. Most blokes that wail 'it's me or the cat/dog/goldfish/etc' buck their ideas up when you say 'OK. Bye then'. The ones that don't aren't worth it anyway!
And if the neighbours say no, leave a little shelter outside for her with food and, once they are properly used to her not being around, scoop her up and, as the others have said [waves to Firefox] present her as a stray to the CPL.
I got my Maine Coon from mentioning casually to a neighbour who left her locked out on the balcony all night in the snow (because she liked to suck hair) that I felt sorry for the poor little thing squeaking outside my bedroom window all night (the subtle hint that it was keeping me awake may have helped). Turned out that the youngest son was picking her up by the throat, dragging her around by the tail, etc, which was really upsetting the neighbour, as she really did like the kitten. Couple of Sundays later, the eldest came round with her and said did I want her before his little brother killed her?!
Well, what do you say to that?>^..^<
Mind you, had she not been that way inclined, little cat may have been found from falling off the balcony and rehomed - it's not that far up to climbI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Bless you for caring for this poor girl. I agree with Fire Fox. you should call the RSPCA (annonymously) and report the sitatuation. Please post on purrsinourhearts.co.uk. There are many rescues and individuals there who can help and support you. The sooner those animals are away from that lot the better.0

I have similar issues with our neighbours and the way their two cats are out all day and night in all weathers, with no shelter apart from our shed, which we leave open for them!
Best of luck with it.0 -
hi. well done for caring. poor little cat. no animal deserves to be treated this way.could you make the cat disappear? we got our 2 last cats from a very similar situation. they had been shut out for months, not been fed.kind neighbour was the only one helping them. she bought them over to me,an hour away, they stayed and are really happy. the awful last owners havent even noticed or doesnt care that they are gone. is that an option for you if you could find someone to take them in?0

Please take the cat in. Give it a good feed, and ask your neightbour if you can have her. Then get her fur sorted out. She may be very matted on her belly. Poor thing.
You are so kind. Give her a fuss from me."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0 -
