Hi,
Just sent you a pm , but have now seen this thread.
I would definately let the vet look at her , check her over and see if he can sort out her coat.
Its probably best its shaved off and you can start again and spring/summer is coming so wont be too bad and you can keep her indoors till the warm weather.
I have 4 rescue persians and one i took in had to be shaved completely and it was winter -he stayed in and i bought him a yorkshire terrier dog coat which he wore proudly for a few weeks -he also had a heated bed .
That was over 8 years ago and he has never had a knot since .
Well done and its good to know there are kind people about .0 -
You absolute angle for taking in this poor cat
now, i don't want to be a party pooper - but is the cat definitely yours? i.e. if the cat gets ill or needs vet treatment then is it you who is responsible and pays the bills? if you haven't thought about it already then it might be a good idea to look into insurance, especially if you don;t have ready access to large sums of money.
good luck with your new family memberx

there are a lot of animal lovers like myself who dont have much faith in the rspca and worry that they wont help this poor cat. there are lots of us on purrs in our hearts who are desperate to help this unloved baby. just let us try please for the cats sake. what is the latest on this situation? has anything been sorted yet? i cant stop thinking about this little one, its so frustrating.:(0

Totatot, read from your last post, the OP has agreement from the neighbour to rehome the cat with her. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Hooray Hooray!!! Lovely, perfect happy ending.
I agree with Lowis though about establishing who actually OWNS the cat at some point in the near future. I am sure it will kind of happen, like maybe when you mention the cat needs a potentially expensive vet visit to sort out matting etc!
Oh and don't worry about OH...anyone familiar with a book by Paul Jellicoe called 'The silent miaow' will know that any puss worth her salt will target the man of the household and quickly win him over with her feminine whiles.0 -
Nessynoo, you'll be pleased to know that OH has fallen in love with her already. Bless her when she was fed up with the rug (the dog had already moved) she jumped up onto OH's settee, gave the dog a kiss and curled up on OH's leg. She stayed there for at least an hour then vacated to go get comfy on his compu8ter chair. He's just been over to see her and started giggling. As soon as he touched her she started purring. I'm glad he likes her as much as I do, it's a very good sign (although he's a big softy like me too.
The insurance is going to be sorted very soon. We get a multipet discount so we'll sort that in the next few days.
She's very aware that we're trying to help her. She tried to wash under her chin and one of the mats got stuck in her teeth. so I picked her up while OH got a pair of scissors. While I held her head up, OH cut the mat off. That one wasn't close to her skin so we felt OK about doing that tiny one but as for the rest, I'll take her to the vets when I've got a cat box for her. We don't mess around, it will be done very soon.
Pictures to follow very shortly, a few minutes, because have found memory card reader.Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0
