#3 son possible exclusion for hitting a bully

Options
Does anyone have any advice? My youngest is about to be excluded for the second time for hitting a bully....

Did he lash out first or retaliate? Can you give us any more info?

This happened to someone I used to know. The school did nothing and only did something when he [person I used to know] turned around and did something.

Bully called the lad a name, so #3 son pushed him up against a wall and thumped him (drew blood by all accounts :( ) The child concerned is in the same year as #3 son, but #3 son is physically a lot bigger than his peers.

Sorry, but I think that deserves some punishment. Your son escalated the situation to physical violence.

Sorry Raksha, I agree with Person one. He could have ignored and walked away but didn't. It may be he was pushed to the edge by this incident I don't know all the background/previous, but at face value, he was in the wrong.

I don't think it should go unpunished, but he's been putting up with this for nearly 2 years in this school and all that seems to happen is he gets excluded when he lashes out. He has an exit card from lessons, but this incident was in the playground at lunchtime.

    Raksha,

Did the bully call your son a name, or another boy?

Was your son trying to help protect the victim?

    How old is your son?

How many days is the exclusion?

How old is your son? Is this a primary school or are we talking about teenagers?

the bully was referring to my son. My son was the victim. He's 12, nearly 13

We don't know full details of the exclusion yet, I had a phone call from the assistant head of year while I was at work this afternoon.
