Please check through the terms and conditions for these promotions. If in doubt check them out with Virgin free on 0800 015 0306.

I had already applied for the digital phone promotion. They don't let you switch once it has gone through.

  • I got mine this week too, and had a play around with it tonight. I was dissapointed after reading the back of the box which made it seem to be a 128mb player and then discover that it was a 64mb player, but for free I am still not complaining.

Most of my MP3's are 128kbps at least so I guess I will be doing some converting.

Manual is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

One point of concern though. The battery I got with it ran out in around an hour! I hope it was a dud battery and that the player doesn't eat batteries so quickly.

All in all very pleased with it as long as it lasts longer when I replace the battery.

If anyone gets a Virgin Wines voucher (over £20) please share - if we're lucky it may be universal!
  • Can you help????

I've read the virgin website and still have some questions that I couldn't work out - can anyone help explain them for me?

    1) %rate for cheque transactions is 0% with handling charge of 2% - anyone know for sure whether interest on the 2% handling charge is charged at 0% or at standard rate (ie I'll have to pay interest on it forever til the 0% bal is cleared)?

    2) what I really want to do is apply for this card and keep it on one side, then buy something on my existing card (no special deals on it), then do a balance transfer to Virgin (at 0% and NO handling charges) BEFORE I get charged anything by the first card (ie before the first payment date after my purchase)? Can this be done? I've never done a bal tfer before so don't know how it works....help...

    3) anyone know how you actually do a bal tfer after you've got your card?

    Thank you all
  • I'll probably convert them to a lower bit rate MP3, such as 64 or 112kbps, and see how it sounds on the MP3 player. As far as I know MP3's of any bit rate can be converted. Might have a play around with converting them to WMA format too.

Coverting to what format? I assume file sizes are smaller but must the mp3s be 128kbps before they can be converted?

Ah, I see what you mean now. I thought you had knowledge of some super duper music format that was much smaller than mp3. Good idea about downgrading the bitrates though. I can't tell the difference between 64 kbs and 128 kbs so that will be ideal for me.

bah humbug, i applied for a virgin card yesterday and wasn't aware of these offers! if i get the card it will be 0% for 9 months but i'd have liked a freebie too lol!

thanks for posting this though, i'm going to see if mum's interested, she's being stung by almost 30 percent on her barclaycard and she's always had perfect credit so it's time for her to change ...
