i've applied too, already got a maxxed out abbey card so we'll se what happens :)

re the BT counting as a transaction, i'd like to know this too. Although i believe MBNA will only now let you do 90% limit BTS so that still leaves you with a few quid to buy a box of matches with :D

although thinking about it that does leave you open to the old, your payments go on the BT first so you'll end up paying interest on your box of matches :(

perhaps the best option is to get the card make the purchase, then phone up and deposit the purchase money then make the BT just to be sure ;)

Previous MBNA offers have always counted a Balance Transfer as "use" of the card. You get the gift 28 days after the first "transaction" appears on your statement and there is no doubt in my mind that a balance transfer is a transaction. If they got stroppy I think you could argue that it doesn't say anywhere that you have to make a "purchase" but I've never seen MBNA get stroppy.

Do they let you BT to your current account with this card as well?

My current £12500 balance doesn't seem like nearly enough revenge 8)

MBNA allow you to BT to your current account I believe and since Virgin is an MBNA card I think the same applies to them.
What I want to know is will they charge a fee? Their t&cs state that they will charge in some circumstances but don't say which. I read that MBNA will charge if you do the BT over the phone but do not charge for BTs done online. If so then neither will Virgin.
So do MBNA charge for online transfers?
