Inspired by this thread, I've just bought three lovely Elomi bras. I really can't recommend them highly enough for us larger ladies, they are amazingly comfortable, ultra supportive, and very pretty. Best of all, I got two of them at half price (at www.leialingerie.com if anyone's interested) so I'm very pleased :j

Workinmummy - no, there are lots of styles in this new plunge fitting, they are really flattering. If you are a size 8 then I'd estimate that you are probably a 30 back size and really should go for a fitting. Where do you live? If you are near me you are welcome to come to me for a fitting.

The thing is that if you are in the right bra then a bra will not make you look fat - just blessed, LOL. :D I know what you mean because they end up hanging all wrong and give you a sausage around your middle and do not sit where they should.

Can you PM and let me know 2 things.

    1) measure under your boobs and give me this measurement - run an invisible line from under and around your back - keeping the tape tight and as like on the freya video I posted yesterday - remember, bands are tight not loose http://www.theholyfit.com/#/getting_fitted/ and then

    2) let me know how the bra you have on fits you (whether it has any overspill, wires digging in etc...) and then I can give you an idea of size so you can order something online. I could give you recommendations of styles that will suit you then and what is available in your size. HTH x

PS. If anyone else wants me to do the same then please feel free. It'll give you a guide as to what to look for mail order. I wish I could fit you all but if you will not go out and get sized I can at least advise you as best I can.

Thank you so much, at work at the minute, but will do later today or at weekend. I'm in the North West, Wigan to be precise. No where near you I think.

For those in the know, what should I look for in a good sports bra (for running)? I have a variety of sizes at the moment, none of which seem to be quite right. In my normal bra, I'm a 34D (pretty sure this is now the right size).

Depends on your size Nikki tbh, you can choose whatever you want for everyday wear, if you mainly wear red tops then go for red, no point in sticking to the basics if you wear other colours.

As for where you shop, it really depends on your size. Again, if you want to be measured find an independant.

Reasonable priced would depend on your size again.

I 'think' I'm a 34A. Haven't ever really been measured and definetley haven't got a clue since giving birth 9 months ago. I'm terrible!

Was reading while having lunch, did not want to read & run - the best bra is the Freya Active sports bra and this bra came in first in the Health & Fitness Magazine tried and tested. There is a wired or non-wired option, I wear the wired bra for running and being a G cup do not get any movement at all. it seems to be one of the cheaper sports bras too. Come in white, black, nude and red.

You sound the same as one of my friends - was wearing a 34A because it felt right and she was actually a 30E - it is very easy to get into a comfy bra and not realise your size has changed. Take a look at the Holy Fit video to show you how to measure, if you need help them PM me. x

Little bit too far away as I am near London, LOL, but let me know if you need help and just PM me. x

Ive read bits and pieces of this thread and it got me wondering. I watched the video clip you linked to Blue Monkey and I'm thinking that I'm wearing the wrong size bra. I've always been a 34B (or so I thought) then two years ago went to La Senza and Marks and Spencer to be told I was now a 36B. Since then I've bought a ton of bras (too many to count!) and went a bit mad in the January sales. (Wish I hadn't now as think they are the wrong size.)

Now some of the bras ride up at the back (especially my older ones) and some new ones seem to come away from the front. I'm thinking a fitting is in order as I've done it the old fashioned way by tape measure and the woman at M & S said I needed to go from a 34 to 36 but my cup size was the same. Now I've got a tape measure and pulled it tight under my bust and tape measure says it's 31" really tight I might add, probably more like 32". (I know the fitter doesn't use a tape measure but just to give you an idea.) My back size has to be wrong.

So, now I'm thinking of going to Bravissimo as I don't want to end up going to someone with a tape measure and them getting it wrong again. Do they fit women who might not be big in the cup? I looked at their website and they go from a D cup upwards.I wouldn't want to be laughed out of the shop, lol!

Just to add I'm a size 12 if that helps? Shame you aren't near to me Blue Monkey as you know your stuff.

B&C, it could well be that the style does not suit you. It makes me cross that M&S feel they have to send someone out with something. Sometimes they just do not suit.

A few years ago I took myself off to M&S - out of interest - and the lady measured me and told me a bra fitted, I question every bra she put on me - poking out at the front, four boobs, riding up the back. In the end I said 'do you have anything else?' and she said 'no not really, maybe you had best go to Debenhams. And that just about said it all.

If you do not question the fit then they'll send you out in whatever they can convince you to have.

    Makes me really cross.

Bravisimmo is a good place to go for fittings though. Please all report back at the weekend whether your sizes have changed. Pretty please. :)

BM, thanks for the reply. Would I be ok to go to Bravissimo though even if they might do bigger bras? I plan on going in a week or so but will report back!
