I live fairly near Bristol and we have a great shop called the Perfect Fit in Keynsham near there. You can go in and be measured by the lovely ladies. They just measure you loosely , always know what size you are and then bring in the bras they think will suit. They adjust the straps and tell you if it fits perfectly. If a bra is not right they get the next size or cup size for the perfect fit. They tell you it should be tight on the looses fitting ( sometimes feels uncomfortable first few days) and then as it stretches with washing you can tighten it up. They advise hand washing only to prolong life of the bra. They stock Freya, Triumph and Fanastie amongst brands.
I went recently and bought 3 bras for £62.00 ( one was £13.00 in the sale). I am a large lady so a perfectly measured is great and I wish I had discovered the shop years ago. Even my sister who is tiny goes there and gets great bras. They sell bridal undies and swimwear aswell. Any ladies in the area check it out it is wonderful and you will never but another Asda or New Look bra again. They have a website too.0 -
A pal of mine treated herself to a fitting at Rigby & Peller not long ago and bought only three new bras: two for every-day wear and one for special. The lady who fitted her advised her to gently hand-wash them once week. I suppose that makes sense, everyone bathes before they dress these days and modern antiperspirants actually work so there's probably no need to wash them more often. I must say she looked blooming marvellous with a properly-fitting bra, it took years off her.
Being extremely modestly proportioned myself I only ever wear them when I go to work, purely for camouflage purposes really. It figure it's probably a distraction to see things actually moving about, even if it's only slightly. Therefore I think I own only about three or four0 -
I own 6 matching sets of undies. I change them as they wear out. I got measured once at M&S and it was terrible. I thought I would be a 32DD and the woman said there was no way I was that. She came back with a 34B and it barely even touched me. I finally got her to actually measure me and lo and behold I ended up with a 32DD which fitted. My girls were comfy and not swinging around, the straps didn't ride around or fall off my shoulders. Now I just try stuff on until I'm happy with the fit.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

i can vlouch for blue monkeys exerptise in this area - a few months ago there was a thread similar to this and i asked her opinion on sizing etc
it turns out i lived about 40 mins drive away so she invited me round for a fitting and sizing
shes a lovely lady very professional and knows her stuff
but the best part is from what she taught me im now able to buy a few bras from la senza for special and still know the style to try and how it should fit - once you know what styles you should avoid and what should be most comfortable for you it cuts out a lot of wasted time and money
im one of her customers that she ordered about 20 bras for but came away with 1 style that fitted and i totally reccomend keeping it on for 20 mins as ones i loved the look of and fitted initally were killing me after 15 mins
i wear fantasie anna's in black and white for day to day - highly recommended:j MFi3 wannabee :j

They are quite new to the market, Fantasie do them as do Panache more recently. Worth a try-on if you are bra shopping again.
For someone looking for a lift I'd check out the new style Freya plunge bras as they give a really good shape, they plunge because they are lower cut but they do not put it all in your face so you cannot see your dinner. They have no padding and just give structure. The same style/cut as Freya Jolie.
Hi Blue Monkey, I had a baby six months ago and my boobs grew and grew whilst pregnant and have not shrunk at all after. I am currently wearing a 34E from La Senza, so most probably wrong from what you say. I need some Umpfh, as I am a size 8, but think that my boobs make me look fat. They are just too big for my 5ft frame.
My question is the above bras you talk about" the new style Freya plunge", is Jolie the name of them or are they different ones. As they are so big, I think I'd like to get the Umpfh without the padding and more from the construction. Many thanks in advance from any response you may have.0 -
I have about 10 or so bras in varying qualities. Many of them are from Asda - £4-8 each and I am a 36F so they do em big!
I wear a clean bra every day as if i dont I tend to get a sweat rash under my boobies (sorry TMI) , so I have to have a few to keep a clean one always on the go.You can stand there and agonize........

Hi ~daisy~, glad to hear that you are still happy with the ones that you got.
Are you still bumping into things....
Workinmummy - no, there are lots of styles in this new plunge fitting, they are really flattering. If you are a size 8 then I'd estimate that you are probably a 30 back size and really should go for a fitting. Where do you live? If you are near me you are welcome to come to me for a fitting.
The thing is that if you are in the right bra then a bra will not make you look fat - just blessed, LOL.I know what you mean because they end up hanging all wrong and give you a sausage around your middle and do not sit where they should.
Can you PM and let me know 2 things.
1) measure under your boobs and give me this measurement - run an invisible line from under and around your back - keeping the tape tight and as like on the freya video I posted yesterday - remember, bands are tight not loose http://www.theholyfit.com/#/getting_fitted/ and then
2) let me know how the bra you have on fits you (whether it has any overspill, wires digging in etc...) and then I can give you an idea of size so you can order something online. I could give you recommendations of styles that will suit you then and what is available in your size. HTH x
PS. If anyone else wants me to do the same then please feel free. It'll give you a guide as to what to look for mail order. I wish I could fit you all but if you will not go out and get sized I can at least advise you as best I can.0 -
